my firends got a lead for her cat
iv seen leads for piggie BUT I'm not sure whether to get one or not..
do they harm piggies?

Yes, they CAN harm piggies' spines, so better leave them be.

I would suggest NOT to use these on Guinea pigs. Guinea pigs can be seriously hurt if you put them in to a harness. I have one for my cat but I only use it on him when we stay at my parents house so that he can roam around the garden without running away x

I hate leads for pigs.

When I was getting hay at p@h I heard one of the girls trying to sell one with a pig that had just been bought, as always I said to the girl that it could brake the pigs spine as they wriggle a lot. She did not buy it and the assistant gave me one hell of a dirty look.

yes they are bad, if the guinea pig gets scared and tries to run you could end up with a break of worse!

Totally agree with what has already been said.

How does your friend's cat get on on the lead? I'm thinking of getting one for mine as they are kept indoors but I feel bad that they don't out into the fresh air.

she felt the same way you do about giving the cat some fresh air.. Jess is perfect on the lead pulls a bit obviously BUT my friend takes her in the car and she loves it too :)

I use a harness for my cats to take them outside and to the vet because they are declawed and they get on very well, but they also say that orientals (which mine are) tend to take it better because they are more dog-like :))

I hate the fact that they put guinea pig pictures on the cover of the small animal harnesses...give people the idea they are appropriate, when they're so harmful.

That's an idea - I could drive them up to my Mum/Dad's garden and they could play about in there on a lead. There's too many at my bit walking their dogs.

I'm totally against de-clawing. I think it is extremely cruel. I know that a lot of people in the USA and other countries do it to their cats.

I don't think I could take them to the vets on the lead - but I definitely want to look into it just for them to get outside. It's such a shame to have them cooped up indoors all the time.
