Incredipigs
Teenage Guinea Pig
Hi, I haven't been very active on the forum for a while so here is an update on the piggies
I'll start with the bad news
Sadly, Boris passed away in April. He was 9 years old, he died of old age. I found his body under the tree in the run, it was a lovely, warm, sunny day and he was surrounded by the rest of the herd. I was absolutely heartbroken and the herd will never be the same without him. This is why I haven't been on the forum for a while
I created a little memorial garden for Boris, using his old igloo (which has been broken at the bottom of the garden for years) and a hanging mirror (he had one when we got him, its not the same one though) I will put some pictures below
Toff has gone bald again, this time there's circle patches of baldness whereas last time it was just all over, I think she's got some skin problems as she was definitely the runt of her litter or an allergy to something. I've mite treated her again and I'm also rubbing coconut oil into the bald patches
Since I got back from holiday I've noticed there are millions of tiny, shiny black flies in the pig house, I keep cleaning out the piggies and spraying the pig house with fly spray (when the pigs aren't in there) but they keep coming back. Any ideas on hoe to keep them away?
Now some good news
In the next couple of weeks I will be getting a rabbit, After both my bunnies passed away last year it took me a while to be ready to get another and now I'm ready! So in the next couple of weeks I will be (hopefully) bringing home a beautiful little bunny. I am hoping to adopt a neutered boy. I know a lot of people will hate me for saying this but I am hoping to introduce him to my guinea pigs, I'm sorry if you think this is wrong and cruel but I will not be changing my mind. The rabbit will live separately to my guins through the summer and if the bonding works it will be living with the piggies through the winter
Also, I will probably getting another piggie in the next couple of months as I'm going to get my herd back up to nine piggies but this will be once I've got a rabbit and the rabbits settled in and hopefully bonded with the piggies
