Hi, My 9 week old piggies are 421 gms and 469 gms in weight, they are brothers and I was wondering if that weight is about the average weight for their age. Thank you x

Hi , yes that is a good healthy weight for 6 week old's

The best thing you can do is not worry and weigh them every week. It is recommended that guineas are weighed weekly anyway as any drop in weight is usually an early indicator that your guinea is unwell x

Your two boys are not unusually low in weight, so you can stop worrying! Guinea pigs don't reach full adulthood until they are 15 months old, so they have got a very long way to go yet until they reach their adult weight and size. Individual weights and adult size varies enormously in guinea pigs anyway, so any ideal weight charts are pretty much useless.
Don't be tempted to overfeed, as youngsters just stop growing quickly sooner. Keep them on a good general diet, and they will realise their optimal weight/size before they reach adulthood and hopefully have a healthy, long life!
