I've just started a new job and it means I'll be away from home for at least a few nights most weeks but often all week until Friday.... Does anyone else work away from home and have pets?

My OH works shifts and loves the piggies to bits so I don't have problems with their care, it's just like things like them being ill that worry me. This past few weeks have been mad with Struan after an operation and I've been lucky to be working at home so it's easy to do extra feeds, care and vet trips but when I'm away it'll be a bit of a nightmare....

I think they should be okay! As long as it's not for more then a like two weeks. Because if you don't touch them and play with them enough they tend to get mad, Or Upset. As long as you put in extra bowls of food and water bottles they should also stay healthy! :D And take out anything in the cage they could eat to harm themselfs.

Hi merry pip, it's difficult and I know what you mean as I go away sometimes for my job too. With mine I make up all their food and put in bags marked breakfast and dinner. My mum who lives near by, has learnt what to do if something is wrong and I have taught her to syringe etc. so it can work. My husband has also learnt the warning signs too. I also know a lovely lady who I trust totally who would take to the vet if an emergency ( I would pay her fir her time but that's the sacrifice I make). I have just had to build a network of support around me. You just know that the minute you are away they will get sick!

Oh yeh...I also leave pages and pages of instructions
