Hi everyone, I've had my girls (mabel and margot) a week now and they have settled in really well, we've had wheeking and popcorning, oh my goodness my heart nearly burst the first time I heard and saw them do these, even my husband looked like he might cry! Something I'm unsure of though is when I talk to them they start "chewing" the first time they did it I got worried that it was teeth clicking and they were cross with me, but it's not that, theres no sound with it and its almost like their chewing on something invisible, they do this when I talk to them almost like they're talking back to me, when one does it the other joins in, then they slowly come out of their house and come up to the cage to see me and then start wheeking, sometimes its accompanied with a toothy yawn and a stretch, so am I right in thinking this is a good sign and means they're relaxrd and happy? Does anyone elses piggies do this too?

Yes thats exactly what it looks like, the more dominant one does it forst then the other joins in, but only when I talk to them! X

Don't worry the majority do it, I think it's quite funny.
That's a relief to know, I was pretty sure it was a good sign, it's so funny and so cute, they only do it when I talk to them and really looks like they're "chatting" back to me, of course they could just be showing me they want veggies and they want them now lol!

It’s normal- I’m fairly sure a guinea pig is incapable of keeping its mouth still.
Mine have even been spotted ‘chewing ‘ while asleep.

If they want veg you'll know. I have 6 wheeking at me, VERY loud, when they want veg.
Tell me about it, when mine hear me shake the veggie tub they start going mad, I can't get the lid off quick enough for them!

Haha that's so funny, they're auch little characters aren't they, I could just watch my girls for hours!
