Woke up this morning to a chilly 17 degrees in the house (that's cold for us). The pigsters did not rush out of their fleece hideys for brekkie vegies so I knew they were cold. Turned on the reverse cycle wall unit to heat things up. It died within 5 minutes. Still under warranty so put a call in. I am told their paperwork has been done wrong & the accounting dept has to fix it before the repair dept can come out & that will take 2-3 days! I have 2 small space heaters stored in the garage for just such emergencies, so plugged one in the computer room for the boys & the other in the lounge room for me. Seems to be too much for the power grid & they tripped up my power switch. So, just plugged the one in for the boys & put on more clothes for me. While I continued to freeze until noon when the temp finally reached 20 degrees, the boys were nice & toasty sprawled out on their vetbed.

Poor you, I am sure your boys appreciate that you are giving the heater to them. Hope you can get your heating sorted soon.

Well, the little space heater has had to be on all night for the piggies. Wonder how much my electricity bill is going to be. These little suckers use up heaps of wattage if they can trip the power board.

Oh no! I hope your heating is fixed. We were without heating for 3 weeks during the bad snowy winter a couple of years ago, it was no fun at all :(

Fortunately we were back up to 20 degrees this morning so have been able to shut the space heater off during the day at least. @Goth Mummy 3 weeks in a UK winter without heating? Just can't imagine it.

Anyway the stupid warranty people have until tomorrow to sort their paperwork & arrange a repair visit. As then it will be the weekend this will drag on into next week. Just hope the weather co-operates so that the space heater only needs to be on during the night.

@Lilly yes it was horrible! The boiler broke down and was irrepairable, so the whole system had to be removed and refitted with a more modern boiler. We bought a load of space heaters but were still pretty shivery! I am glad you are not cold anymore :)

I had to laugh at that I am afraid, not the fact that your heating has broke but the fact that it is 17 degrees and it is your winter. It is our summer here and we only have 20 degrees here today in the house, probably won't get much above that all summer.

I know it seems ridiculous complaining about 17 degrees :))! But when you have gotten used to warmer, a sudden drop like that makes one cold. I used to live in Darwin where 28 degrees would send one searching for heat because it rarely dropped below 33. Now that I have been in Brissie for 13 years I can tolerate colder, but not below 20 :(!

This morning no higher than 17 degrees again so the space heater had to be left on for the piggies & I am wearing polar fleece jumpers. I had to chase up the warranty people as they hadn't got back to me when they said they would. Ended up spitting the dummy. It worked. The repairer they organised called back within half an hour & they will be here tomorrow morning .

Hope you can get it sorted soon.
Been a lovely day here today still only 20 degrees in the house though. Even been out for a walk this evening as don't get alot of nice days together.
I was mowing our lawn earlier and my hubby said my piggies were all squeaking as the windows were open and they could smell the grass. Poor piggies couldn't go out on it as it had weed and feed on a couple of weeks ago, should be ok for the weekend though, so they can go out then if it is still warm and dry.
