Hi all, when i adopted one of pigs she was at the rescue because she had ring worm and hr previous owner didnt want to know.

I have just checked my piggies over and she has a white crust just inside her ear. It doesnt seem to bother her but i was wondering should i get her checked straight away as it may be the start of a fungal infection? or is this normal & and if so does anybody have any treatments etc i could use to help her.

Thanks.

It's always better to get things checked out by a vet if you're in the least bit concerned it'll put your mind at rest.

Yes, please do. It sounds like a fungal infection.

Here are our home care tips, so you can prevent any fungal from spreading or coming back - good hygiene is key if you want to get on top of ringworm. Investing in a good disinfectant like F10 is well worth it.
If you can treat your piggy with an oral medication (itrafungol, active ingredient itraconazole), it would be best as it gets to any bit of the body, even the inside of the ears, which are rather difficult to treat without having to stess out your piggy. I would still recommend a bath at the end of the treatment to get rid of any spores that could be stuck in the coat.
You will find our guide very helpful, as it is detailed and comprehensive - and tried and tested!
