Hi I haven't been on here for a while, but I really need some advice.

I have two pigs...Sam who is 2 and Dillon who is 1. They have never been the best of friends but seemed happy....will sit in hay tray munching together, piggie train round the house together and sleep with their wee heads together. There was always the occasional rumble strut and Dillon did want to be top dog.

Yesterday when I was out....they had a fight and my mum separated them. I checked them both over and Sam has a cut to his face. I have cleaned his face and have kept them separated over night. Both are fine eating and drinking. If anything it is Dillon who is quieter than normal. My piggies are free range so one is in utility room and other in the kitchen.

What would you do in this situation? It is going to be very tricky if they can not be friends :(

I would be very careful if you want to reintroduce. I wouldnt advise it now blood has been drawn I'm afraid. If you really really want to give it a go, give them both a bath (in the same shampoo) pop them both into a run/room that is neutral terratory (somewhere where neither have been) and give them lots and lots of food, runs and hides (that are not with one enterance - eg iglus which could end up with one feeling trapped inside)

I would get some grids to divide there home and that way they could live happily together but not be able to fight. Sorry I'm not much help.

x.

Thanks!

It is all very problematic just now as I have just moved home due to splitting with my bf and where the pigs live is not easy to separate...going to have to figure something :{

Does anyone know if neutering a boar would make a difference? Sam is so chilled and laid back but Dillon is not!

Thanks for any help!

As a rule no, neutering will not normally ever make a difference to a boar friendship or behaviour. Sorry. My boar did mellow a little after neutering, but hes paired with his girls, not another boar. Ive heard it doesnt help at all.
