Sent Nova and Luna off to boarding today.

I feel absolutely heart broken with worry.

They're at Cavy Corner so are reciving the best of care. But still worried about everything!

Worried if the piggies will be OK in a new place, how they'll react to the people there, that they'll fall out with each other or that Cavy corner will think I dont look after them properly.

My squishy little potato and coffee bean, wish I could give them a cuddle 😭

I would feel exactly the same. How long are they boarding for? I’m assuming you are going away? So try and enjoy yourself. Hard I know. But they will be fine. 😃

I'm going to a festival for the weekend. They'll back with me Sunday or Monday depending if we get back late.

With lockdown they've not been around many people and with guests they still tend to hide and stay quiet. Doesnt help that they're both coming off heat and for some reason Nova has been more vocal than usual the last couple of weeks. Felt like I was getting somewhere with Nova recently as well, she hates being touched but has started to trust me more.

Love them to bits.

Anxiety is just the worst, isn't it? It sounds like you've found a trustworthy place to look after them while you're gone. I hope you can enjoy your time away and practice healthy self-care to take care of those difficult feelings.

Feeling better now. Cavy corner sent me a picture of them in their temporary home. They were stood munching hay! Nova was stood squashing a fleecey tunnel like her normal self and someone had already pooped in the cage 😂

I sent the picture to my partner and they laughed noticing the full bowl of pellets and said they'd be unhappy coming home to limited pellets! Ahahaha.

Always knew I loved the piggies but I think them going away makes you realise just how attached you are.

The festival was great. It was vegan campout which I always enjoy as it's such a chilled out festival with lovely people. After a festival season of too much alcohol and dancing about it's nice to go to something more wholesome and educational!

It's interesting because I see both sides of the fence, when I'm away from my own and when I'm looking after the boarders. It's because of this I completely understand how owners feel. I do absolutely everything I can to put their mind at rest from copying their food diary, weights in and out, daily updates and photo's. I also tell them I do know how they feel and fret when I'm away even checking the fridge contents when I get back to see they've eaten what was supplied - they all get proper fussed over too.

Knowing however that they have gone to a great place to have their holibobs makes it all worth it.

Day 1 of them being gone I was a mess. Didnt help when the dishwasher also broke shortly after the piggies left!

I felt better when they sent pictures of the piggies. Especially when they were doing their normal quirky behaviours like squashing fleece tunnels.

Mine were only gone for a long weekend and do readily accept the vast majority of food (Luna won't eat baby corn and neither will eat mint or bramble leaves, that's it) and havent reacted badly to any food. So I wasnt too bothered about what they ate as, within reason, what they eat for a few days will have very little impact on their long term health. So long as they had hay and water they'd be fine. It would be different if they were gone for a week or two.

I think you have to be a special kind of person to board animals as people need to feel they trust you greatly. Especially with animals as needy as piggies. 💜
