Piggies Have Lice

After having my 4 piggies for 2 weeks one has got a sore patch took them all to vets today and they are all infested with lice badly lucky for me the lovely vet only charged me for one health check and price of lice treatment . I will be contacting the breeder that I bought them from as they were probably infected for a while .
 
I am sorry to hear this. Hope you dont mind me adding this.. as I have skinnies can they get lice like this? And would they get scabby skin also. Edgar and poe have been scratching but their skin looks perfect no redness or dryness or breaks.
 
Lice can come in off the hay and common, they don't bit the skin so hairy piggies often have them and unless you part the hair you might not notice them. If its lice a quick bath in lice n easy kills them. I don't think they affect skinnies as they live on the hair shaft but mites would as they live under the skin @GloriousGuineaGirl
 
Thank you the one that has sore skin is the satin one vet said it probably cause the hair on them is very fine the other 3 are infected but not sore they having treatment for lice over next 3 weeks and the one with sore I'm to bathe it in iodene soulotion and put sudo cream on
 
Glad you have a diagnosis. What lice treatment did the vet recommend?

@GloriousGuineaGirl my skinnies have had mange mites so can tell you their symptoms if needed. They haven't had lice but neither have the hairies.
