Hi,

Due to work changes, I need to move from UK to USA. I do not want to re-home my two piggies, so prefer to bring them to the USA.

Does anyone have similar experiences? Could you please provide some information about piggies’ international travel?

For example, which flight company (from UK to USA) allow piggies enter cabin area? (I don’t want to leave them in cargo area)

Is there any precautions need to be paid attention with?

Many thanks

Sadly there isn't currently an airline that allows piggies in the cabin when travelling from the UK to the US.
On the plus side it is possible to send them as live cargo, as you will be travelling from a 'clean' country, so the entry requirements are fairly minimal.

However if you do plan to take your piggies you need to start researching pet transport companies now.
This will be expensive, but can be done.

It is also worth considering the time of year you plan to travel, and what the weather will be like in both places a that time.
I would strongly suggest avoiding both the height of Summer and the middle of Winter, as there will always invariably be time spent hanging around in carriers for loading and unloading at each end.

A pet transport company will make sure you have all the correct paperwork, and advise you on what steps to take to comply with the current regulations (which change all the time).
Do not book your own flights before your guinea pigs are booked, as not all planes will take animals, so if you want to be on the same plane as them then you should wait.
Having said that it can also be advantageous to fly out before your pets and leave them with a trusted friend or family member, so you already have everything set up and can collect them directly from the destination airport.
