l'm just making up a first aid kit for my guinea pigs.
Do I get critical care in a bag or pot, I want something that lasts. Do I get the fine grind.
Do I need recovery food as well.
Should I get vitamin C as well.
Also do I need something called Av....., think it is for there tummy?
What size syringes do I need?
Is there a good or bad brand.

Apart from critical care & syringe feed, I won't be using any of this stuff without your advice, I just want to be ready.
Also should my piggies be having vit C anyway.

I'm not sure on some of your questions I'm afraid, but I know two lol.
The A for the tummy is Avipro and it's a probiotic and. I'd suggest 1ml syringes in your kit....especially if you ever need to syringe feed your furbabies. HTH x

Oxbow Critical Care comes in bags, you might only need a small bag in case you ever need to step in with syringe feeding & you can buy it online easily. Mine like the normal one best, never tried the fine grind one.

Recovery food is the same stuff just a different brand so you don't need both.

Pro C is similar to Avipro & you can buy it easily in a tub in Pets at Home. It contains probiotics & Vitamin C. If you need to use it just use a tiny bit in some water & feed by 1 ml syringe in small amounts (always at an angle at the side of the mouth between the teeth to avoid aspiration) Don't ever squirt anything directly down the back of the throat.

1ml syringes are the best (No needle obviously!) I cut the end off, remove the rubber bung & smooth the end with a nail file so it isn't sharp & use that to syringe feed food, use the 1ml syringe without the end cut off for water, just syringe 1-2ml slowly at a time.

More details & a comprehensive guide is here: Syringe Feeding & Medicating Guides, Probiotics Links, First Aid Kit...

Just wanted to add that a lot of products (particularly those with Vit C) have a limited shelf life.
After this they might still be ok, but the vitamin content will reduce.
So whilst it is a good idea to have small amounts of things on hand, it might be better not to invest in lots of things that may well be out of date before you actually need them.

Critical Care is one of the recovery food brands. Wether it comes in a pot or a bag, it is in dry powder form. Get the fine grind; it tends to go down better.
Any probiotic will do; avipro plus is only one of them. it is the only one without added calcium, though.
Get 1 ml syringes.
