Does giving piggies green leafs make them pump? I'm pretty sure they are farting haha and it's stinky. I have checked there poops and there is not any runny ones.

Thanks in advance with my stinky girls haha

Yes, can do. Cabbage and other members of the brassica family can cause gas in guinea pigs.

Hi!

Please do not overfeed greens and veg, especially cabbage and broccoli. too much can cause fermentation in the lower gut. over 89% of the daily food intake should be hay for long term health and a higher life expectancy.
Take you piggies off fresh food for a day if necessary to help the guts rebalance.

Thank you for the reply. I have only given them about 8 cabbage leaves between 5 of them in 2 days. So I will just not give them any veggies for a few days. I saw they should have about a cup of veggies a day per piggie aswell as hay and dry food. I'm struggling with what to give them veggie wise everyday as most things seem to cause problems for them

I’m the same as Claire W. I give a little lettuce, cucumber, bell pepper and coriander daily. I then swap in some spring greens instead of lettuce a couple of times a week. I occasionally add in some some carrot, green beans, kale, broccoli, spinach, basil few times throughout a month - but it’s only if I’ve got those items in so that is why they don’t tend to have them more often then monthly

We have cucumber and red pepper daily, carrot once a week, apple once a week, broccolli or spinach and watercress salad twice a week, and beansprouts twice a week. Occasionally sweet potato or beetroot. We used to have parsley and coriander quite often too but we have a bloaty piggy with a bad tummy who doesn't tolerate herbs and lettuce so those are things the other piggies get hand fed in secret!

Please have a look at the link I have given you in my last post - it has taken me over a day to write, so I can't repeat it all in one post, I am sorry to say. You will find it REALLY helpful, as it includes a picture of a recommended sample diet and tells you exactly what you can feed how much how often. Please be aware that amounts of veg and pellets are being downgraded in favour of hay. The guide should pretty much answer all your questions!
