Had a load of willow cut from the tree a few days ago so thought id give the pigs a branch to munch on and play with-

I will be interested in seeing the consequences of feeding such a large quantity of a new food, especially considering the cautionary post given by one of the forum's most knowledgeable contributors.

I am slightly concerned at the large amount you have put in their run given what i posted on your earlier thread.

Please keep an eye on them for the next few days and watch out for any changes in poo shape, apetite or behaviour. I hope they didn;t eat too much and just enjoyed burrowing through the branches.

They only had it in their run for about 30mins. Didnt eat much just burrowed in it and nibbled a bit.
I'm a little hurt that people would think I would put my pets in danger, this is why I asked the question the other day about if they were allowed to eat willow, if I didnt care what they ate surely I wouldnt of bothered?

Please remember that responses posted are not just for the benefit of the person who started the thread but for everyone else who reads it hoping to learn something more about piggies. This is a public forum and it's clear from the responses you have had on this thread that other members might now think it's a good idea to put a large branch of willow leaves in with their pigs. They may now also have the impression that it;s fine to give willow branches/leaves as a regular part of their guinea pig;s diet because they are not party to the previous information I left on your other thread. They don;t know (as Suzy and I didn;t when we posted earlier) that you only left the willow in their run for 30minutes and that, rather than appearing to ignore the advice I posted, you took heed of it and acted accordingly.
The experienced members of the forum take a lot of time and trouble to post information/advice to help keep [*]everyone's[/*] pigs happy and healthy. If an individual chooses to ignore (or appears to ignore) that advice then that's their perogative but if at the same time it gives other people the wrong end of the stick and could put their piggies at risk because they are not privy to other information, then we will post accordingly to alert people to that fact.
Contrary to what you may currently feel, we do try to set the record straight without making personal attacks/judgements of individuals and I'm sorry that despite our efforts at making somewhat neutral remarks, you have interpreted what we said in that way.

They certainly look like they're having fun lucky piggets x) id not leave it in for too long though they'll end up with poorly tummies....perhaps a big pile of hay to distract them whilst you take it out
