So I read in the food sticky to have unlimited hay AND pellets. Unlimited hay has been provided from the beginning but not unlimited pellets. A cup of veggies is provided daily. I've had my piggy for about 3 weeks now and he's definitely gained some wait since I got him. Should I be concerned? Or maybe he was a little under weight when I got him. I'm not sure. What's a good size for a guinea pig?

Maybe it's the pellets? Apparently I'm feeding him the wrong kind because it has little colored things in it. He doesn't eat them. He picks them out or eats around them. But still.

Picture of his little pot belly. I must say he is adorable a little more plump. :)

Hi! I feed mine a 50/50 mix of pets at home pellets/nuggets and burgess excel x they love them both (they disliked pah's a while back but they like them mixed with burgess). I would slowly switch him over to a nugget (deffs recommend burgess excel). Therefore your piggy can't do something called selective feeding. This is where a guinea pig will pick out the unhealthy or fatty pieces of food from the museli and leave the good bits which he needs in his diet. Mueslis aren't the best food to have them on but as long as your pigs eat it all eh will be fine. Btw make sure to switch them onto a pellet slowly as is prevents diarrhea which can be fatal to piggies. As for your pigs gain of weight... This could be due to him selective feeding ( eating the fatty bits) u should really switch him onto a pellet. This helps prevent pigs from getting fat x guinea pigs should have unlimited Timothy or meadow hay to keep their digestive system running and to keep their teeth short. Unlimited pellets shouldn't be given. My pigs aren't the best pellet lovers so tend to leave a lot of theirs overnight. I feed my boys 1/8 of a cup each day and I find that this is enough. X I hope I helped x

He's 3 years old. He didn't have that belly when I got him. That's why I ask. He looks adorable. I just want to make sure I'm not over feeding or anything. Should I assume then that he might have been underweight when I adopted him?

he looks perfect to me :D my piggys have a little belly on them too xx
