I have two female guinea pigs at the moment, about 8 months ago i rehomed 2 males as i couldnt look after them due to illness, the person who has them can no longer keep them and theyve asked me to have the boys back. none of them are neutered and i have seperate hutches but will it upset the boys to be soo close to girls and vice versa? it might only be for a short time as I'm going to find them a forever home as soon as possible :)

if they are a bonded pair they may be ok as long as hutch far away from girls as poss. if they smell girls they will most likely fight! hope everything goes ok :-)

It shouldn't upset them, they'll just hear some other pigs talking - which they might quite enjoy! I think if the pigs were in view of eachother, that might cause some stress problems, but I know a person with 60 Guinea Pig's, and has around 40 in quite a large shed, which are a mix of females and males (unneutered as she breeds them), and they don't have any stress problems.

Hope they find a great forever home! x)

I'm sorry but you're 'advice' really isn't very helpful. Many boars will be upset and fight at the smell of females and it has been known to break up a bonded pair before, as it is basic instinct.

To the OP, as others have said above if you can house them a way away ideally you should be ok. Right on top of or near each other and you may be inviting problems. It all depends on the boars - do you know their age and background? Are the strongly bonded?

i have kept boys and girls in the same room and appart from my boys falling out once (due to kevin and perry age... haha) ive never had any problems housing them closely... :)
although.... it has been known to upset some....
so... play it by ear... thats what i'd do... :)
