My piggies have been given fleecy blankets and they do use them :smitten: b ut the trouble is, they are turning out to be a nightmare!

I have five "in the hutch" (one for each pig) and five "in the wash", after a couple of days they need washing; I give them a good shake out but after washing them, my washing machine must still have lots of hay and bits in it cos my next couple of lots of washing comes out covered in hay!

Then I shake this out of the washing and hoover up . . . I've tried putting the blankets in a pillowcase but they come out whilst in the wash.

I feel awful moaning about it, and am prepared to put up with it for the sake of the piggies being warmer, but if anyone has any tips on how to manage better I'd be very grateful! Thanks x

i brush them, then shake them, then hoover them and then put them in old bedding tie it up and wack them in the washing machine :) that seems to be working for me :)

Try washing them inside a pillow case?

I hang mine out in the wind for a bit to let the bits get blown off......

You need to tie a knot in the pillow case. If I cant get a knot in it I sometimes wrap an old elastic hairband around the top a few times, to keep the blankets in.

I always end up having to do a quick cycle of the washing machine with it empty to try and get all the hay/hair/poo etc out of the machine.

Tumble drying works wonders too and its easy to get all the stuff out of the filter.

Not very good for my carbon footprint though......... :(
