Hello!
I'm moving out at the end of August but the flat is quite small.
I was wondering what everyone had typical cages on top of? Bonus if it has shelving or cupboard underneath!

If push comes to shove I can put the cage on my floor, but would rather save room on furniture by having storage space too!

The dimensions of the cage will be:
162 x 60 x 50 cm (L x W x H)

Several have a theirs on top of a table. You could also use ikea shelves sideways and buy those storage boxes to slot in. Have a browse of the commercial cages thread in the Housing section for more ideas. It’s pinned near the top.

Ah, thanks. I was wondering if anyone had any specific pieces of furniture that they knew fit really.
I've been all through Argos, Ikea and The Range and just haven't found anything suitable.

I use two ikea 'stuva' storage drawers next to each other. They have a deep drawer that you can store things in and I find they're a good height for me to do cleaning and talk to the pigs

We made a diy ‘bunk beds’ cage for my piggies.

as you can see there’s space underneath for storage
we’ve since added a blind to make it look nicer which we just pick up when we need the items stored

I have mine on top of camping tables. They are two Ferplas Plazas 160 and 140 rearranged as a 100cm with a ramp into a 200 cm

Wow I wish I could knock up something like that! If I tried there would be a big crash in the middle of the night and piggies sliding around like the deck of The Titanic 🙈

The tables are really solid and stable, I was really impressed with them. Both are 5 foot and are slight staggered at the back where they join. The cages are tie wrapped together too so they can’t come apart. It’s a great set up but we are only using the large cage atm as our boar is lodging with furryfriends TEAS as he has to have regular conscious dentals with a fantastic vet in Northampton which has proved very difficult for us during the lock down. When he comes home he will be bonded with his new wifelets which he has met but was still waiting his 6 weeks after neutering. Hoping we can get him home soon ☺

Our cages are on tables from Ikea.
Basically we had the dimensions of the cages, went to Ikea and found table tops that would fit them (Vangsta fully extended takes a 5 x 5 C&C).
Then we added in the legs we wanted, and it was all pretty simple.

Our 7 x2 C & C is on an old dining table... we first cut the legs down but as things have changed we had added to it and added the legs back on 🙈 great for storage too! 20200111_145410.webp

It probably doesn't help you much, but when I was trying to work out what I could put a 5x3 c&c on, I remembered we had an old dining table in the garage. I put the cage on it in the piggie room and kept some boxes with hay etc underneath.

We moved home a few months ago, I don't have long term space indoors so at the mo my pigs are in a ferplast cage on a kid's snooker table, while I get a hutch ready for them.

My cage is just on top of a table with a piece of plywood on top of the table to support the full cage as the table is smaller than the 3x4 c and c cage I've got.
