hi,

my smudge is an only piggy ( for the moment) i don't usually hear a lot of noise from him when he's in his cage but as soon as i get him out and sit down with him he starts to chatter :) but been a first time piggy owner i cant really tell any difference in his noises and was just wondering if his happy sounds and stressed sounds would sound different? i just don't know if he talks to me because he's happy to be with me or if he's stressed and doesn't want to be out! just wondering really.

I have not noticed any chatter from Milo but i will look out for it and let you know if I find out what it means:)

I've found that body language accompanying the chatter lets you know whether they like things or not. Piggies are social so they do talk to each other and us. My Peanut Butter makes all sorts of little chuttering noises while laying flat out with his back legs splayed and I am stroking his back. So I think he is happy. On the other hand if I try to cuddle him in my arms he squeals and tries to get away. So I think he doesn't like that. Sounds like Smudge is chattering because he is lonely and happy to get attention from you. Hope you get him a friend soon.
