Piggy Confidence?

How long does it take? I've heard it can take a long time!

I've had my piggies about a month now and they are still quite scared when I approach the cage! (They hide away!)

I can't wait for them too become comfortable with me and become excited when I approach the cage!

I do take them out of the cage for a cuddle and they seem happy at that point! I just want them to be totally confident

However, they did both take food from my hand today for the first time! I was so proud!

It sounds like they are doing well, taking food from your hand & enjoying cuddle time. As piggies have different personalities there are no set time frames for what they are going to become confident in & when. My boy Hazelnut, whom I've had for almost 4 years now, tries to jump out of the cage & into the vegie dish when I'm trying to set it down, he gets that excited. But he still doesn't like being taken out of the cage, although once he's out he's perfectly happy to be cuddled. He still also runs & hides unless I approach the cage slowly & quietly, calling his name & talking to him softly as I approach. On the other hand, if I yell "who wants carrots/lettuce/parsely" before I approach the cage he is out of hiding & climbing the bars in excitement. It all takes time but the end rewards are so worth it. Enjoy the journey!.

I'm so excited for them to become more comfortable with me! Mine definitely love their food!

It has taken around 8 months to get my boys to take food out of my mouth.

It only took around 2 months for them to be fully comfortable with taking food from my hands. They now stand on my legs to demand food!

Aw, that's such a nice picture! I have a white piggy too!

Mine get a little scared when I'm putting the food into the cage! But after that they love eating!

They were enjoying a carrot stick this morning!
