Piggy Constantly Licking Their Owner

My piggy has always been a excessive licker since a very young age. Every time I get her out she tends to lick my whole face for around 10mins. She normally licks more when I've gotten upset and when I get her out she licks my whole face and is very cuddly (it's like she can sense how I feel). I've heard that it can be for a number of reasons: very salty skin or showing affection, and I was wondering what other people on here think about piggys licking. Advice would be appreciated :)
 
My kids call them 'piggy kisses.' We have had a few pigs who are very interested in licking the hands of the humans. I feel like it's partly affection and partly that our skin tastes salty!
 
I've had 3 males and one female but I have a friend who has 2 females. I've only ever known females to do it (my one does too). Maybe it's a female instinct to nurture? I had one male who occasionally licked but only when I'd been holding vegetables.

That's interesting! Mine have all been sows. All of my pigs will lick our hand occasionally, but a couple of them (Sundae and Leela) will flat out wash your hands if you let them!
 
My Binky (boar) has never licked me but Errol (also boar) goes through phases. He'll lick you constantly whenever you pick him up for a few weeks, then get bored of licking for a few weeks and then starts again and so on!
 
My new piggy has been licking a lot its like she can tell Ive had a rough day...
 
None of mine have ever licked. Little Dude bit my finger sore today (by accident - I was holding a bit of pepper for him, and he got carried away), and Groucho bit my decolette - again, an accident, I think there was a crumb there as I'd just finished a sandwich. But licking - never. I'm so jealous - I mean, licking doesn't hurt!
