Put a spot on on Daisy last night and she was jumping about as if to try and get it off. This morning she didn't come out for her veg. I had to get her put the cage and she did eat some leaves. She was still jumping about so I tried to wash the greasy bit off her fur. She is still not happy and back hiding in the house. I have put some veg in there for her and she's eating it.

Anyone else had this?

I have heard of pigs reacting to spot on, what brand did you use and does it look red on her skin where it was applied?

what type was it? i know there is one that has given some bad reactions.

I got it from Joanne at Hutches. it's the one she uses all the time. I think it was the Xeno 450. I didn't notice any redness on skin.

Ok, all pigs react differently though so maybe it felt uncomfortable, I don't use Spot on myself. How is she now?

Yeh I think it was annoying her. I am not.at home but my mum said she was o it eating some hay. I will see what she's like during floor time when in get home.

Just home. Mum said she has been hidingmost of the day. Mum had her out earlier and gave her some strawberry tops which she is but now she's hiding again. Uhhh!, will she be ok?

Is she eating her usual food? I would get her checked by a vet, she may have had a reaction to the spot on. Has she had it before?

They are out having floor time and she is sitting munching the hay and she took a grape from me too. Do you think I should still take her to the vet then? Would they be able to do anything do you think?

They could give pain relief if she is sore. It is good that she is eating though, maybe monitor her over the next 24 hours and then see. Could you weigh her daily too, that way you will be able to tell if she is eating as she normally would.

She just had a bit of dandylion leaf and she is alert. I start my new placement tomorrow and it is 12 hour shifts so I will get my mum to keep an eye on her. Yes, I have weighed her today and will continue to do so. Thanks Helen.

There are mixed reviews about all products. I personally won't use spot on but am sure plenty have used Xenex. How is the area looking now?

Feel so bad! Her neck looks fine. It isn't red. Can't see any sores etc. she's not scratching it and it doesn't seem to bother her just now when she is munching hay but when she goes to walk somewhere she sort of shakes her head as if trying to dry herself then bolts.

When I first had Guiness 5years ago - not at all piggy savvy and used Bob Martins spot on - he had really bad reaction and was dragging his hind legs- rushed to vets and after a overnight hospital stay came home happy and healthy - I then belatedly googled and found damming reports (didn't find the forum in time) - to cut a long story short, Bob Martins although did not accept liability did reimburse me all my vets fees including hospital stay!

Oh no that's not good! Did your piggies have that reaction immediately? Or did it take a while for them to start dragging their legs?

Not sure how long as I applied it in the evening and next morning found him dragging his rear legs- you can imagine how guilty I felt that the poor little thing had spent all night in possible pain- (although the vet reassured me he wasn't in pain as such as probably just confused and discomfort when pooping)
