piggy grouping

Ive been having a think and wish my piggies were in bigger groups. As most of you know i have
in each cage =
Lincoln & Kenickie
Bodie & Doyle
Baylee & Mansell
Meg, Squirrel & Jolene

Is there anyway of making bigger groups? Lincoln and Kenickie can stay together as I'm happy with that. But is there anyway of having the 4 boys with the girls? or even just two boys? or will that upset them? obviously after netering. I dont want to split the boys up if only one can go with the girls. It just seems a shame that they are in the same room in separate cages when they could be together.

I wouldn't rock the boat especially if you don't have alternative room for seperate pigs if it all goes pear shaped.

1 boar per sow group. Think of it like a lion and his girlies! Thats how it is for pigs.

As for putting sows together, it doesn't always work out, change can also stress them and bring on mites.

Sorry to put a downer on it but I'd leave them as they are. :)
 
thanks Louise. Its not putting a downer on it, i was just having a think about it really. Ive seen some huge hutches which are amazing but havent for the room or money to buy so many for the groups at the moment. never mind. was worth a shot :)
 
I think we've all wished the our boys would live in groups, but sadly they just don't really do it. As long as each pig has a partner, I think they're happy (and aware of the other pigs about). As the others have said - don't rock the boat, or you could end up with lots of single boars in single cages! (I did this with my 3 young boars before I knew any better and ended up with 3 single, and a vets bill!)

I think some people have got neutered boys with girls, but you don't know how your boys will react and it could be negative, then you might try and put the boys back on their own and it wouldn't work like before, then you have 2 lonely boars :(

As for the girls I have my girls in a big group, they get on well but I introduced them over 2 days and they are all quite laid back.
 
The girls are all together already and get on great :) i just wanted to introduce some boars. I thought that would be the answer though. never mind there all very happy and thats all that matters :)
