She is 7 months old, she was 490 grams 2 weeks ago now she is 474 grams :0 what's wrong? :0 she had never lost any weight before :0

490 grams = 1.08 lb
474 grams= 1.04 lb

8...

Yesterday she ate some celery with the stringy things attached but after that she ate normally (didn't lose appetite or anything) couldn't this be related? :( what is a normal weight for a piggy her age? (If there is a standard weight)

I'm not sure what an 'ideal' weight would be for a sow of that age (I have only had boars, and it's been a while since they were babies), but a loss of 16g isn't a great deal at all. That could just be the difference between weighing her before or after dinner, or before/after having a wee. Obviously, if she continues to lose weight then it would be an issue, but you may find that she'll put that 16g back on by tomorrow.

I usually work on the principle that a 40-50g loss is concerning, but less than 40g can be completely normal.

I wouldn't worry about the weight loss unless it continues. I don't know whether my Tia was an average weight but at 7 months she was about 900g

Edit: got my dates wrong

Don't panic as Cath has said above. 16 grams can just be a wee. Ours fluctuate between 20-40grams on weighs sometimes. It can depend on if they have just had a big wee or a poo or if they haven't ate as much tea etc...

Best to weigh them regulary at the same sort of time. With weight loss it is a trend you are looking for so losing weight each weigh may indicate a problem so losing 40 grams in one weigh then the following day losing some more would worry me.

Ours showed a 50gm loss yesterday from the previous week, however, last week they were weighed just after breakfast and yesterday was in the afternoon after a "few" hours of floor time causing mayhem. After weighing they were scoffing hay and nuggets like they had never been fed.

So long as you piggie is not losing weight continuously then i wouldnt panic. As others have said weight can fluctuate. But obviously if she continues to lose then best to have her checked over.

To add, its fine for piggies to have celery, it does not cause obstruction. Theyre guts are designed to digest long fibers and plant material.
