Hi,

My kids have 4 piggies, all brothers and all 8 months old. They live indoors. They are always very noisy when playing, being fed etc but yesterday after we went to bed we heard a really shrill squeaking, we thought it was a bird outside but I came downstairs and it was one of the piggies. He is still playing, eating and looks healthy and is not struggling to breathe. Just wandering if anyone has any idea what this sound was? It lasted about 3 mins and happened again twice during the night but not again today. Would be grateful for any ideas. Thanks x

Hello, Welcome to the forum.

It was most likely to be chirping a very rare piggie sound, here is a link with some info on it http://jackiesguineapiggies.com/guineapigsounds.html No one really knows why piggies do it.

It wasn't while they were weeing or anything was it?

I have moved your post to our Guinea Pig Chat Section, it will get more views there.

Welcome once again.

Thanks for that, I didn't realise until after I had posted it that it was in the wrong thread! No he wasn't weeing it really worried me, I sat up most of the night! He has an appointment at the vets at 5pm today just to get him checked over so hopefully all is ok.

Have a google and listen to the chirping sounds see if it was similar. We have only heard chirping a few times from 2 of our piggies, it happened once after Treacle was startled... It did sound like a bird, very eerie sounding noise.

Pleased to hear this! Little Chirpper :))
