piggy having diarrhea

hi people, i just now realise my piggy poop was watery n flush out in puddles. i guess it is having diarrhea. do you guys know, other than vets, how can we cure it by ourself? guinea pig having diarrhea is it becoz having too much veggi?
 
Diarrhea is very serious - it can be caused by the wrong balance of food, by a virus or bacteria.

If you have watery diarrhea you NEED to get an antibiotic AS QUICK AS YOU CAN, or your guinea pig can die very quickly.

Make sure that you syringe or spoon boiled cooled water or cooled chamomile or fennel tea and mushed up pellets, as a piggy loses weight quickly. Can you get syinge without a needly from the pharmacy or a vet? Do not give vegetables. Please try and get hay.

A quinea pig drinks about up to 50 ml of fluid. It is necessary to make sure that it gets enough fluid to replace the loss through the diarrhea.

no wonder my piggy is lossing weight a little. the diarrhea is not in the worst stage i guess, *** the poop is a abit watery plus sticky but still in abit of solid stage.. yes i have a stringe with no needle...and as for the thing * ask me to stringe, r they the medicine?
 
You can syringe the water.

But you will only get an antibiotic suitable for guinea pigs from a vet - AND YOU NEED TO SEE A VET ASAP! Untreated diarrhea in a guinea pig is as deadly as anything! It sounds like he has gastroenteritis - infection in his guts.

Give your guinea pig lots of hay to nibble on - that's the best nourishment right now, if he has still some appetite.
 
you told me antiboitic can only get from vet... however i am guessing my piggy contract diarrhea n i am not 100% sure. i will feed him with hay 1st and watch his development tomorrow.. if his poop is still sticky, will definitely bring it to vet. at the meantime, hay n mushed up pellet, what other food should it be feed?
 
Just hay, mushy pellets and water until his poo is OK again. Please make sure that he sees a vet who can tell what he has!
 
How long has he had the diarrhea for? What has he been fed over the past 24 hours?

ok thanks alot.. currently i will watch and see if its diarrhea or not.... hated vets in my country becoz for some reason, some of them scams.. for example if my guinea pig didnt have diarrhea which i thou it has and i brought it to a vet, the vet will either believe it has diarrhea or it may just give me diarrhea medicine in case my guinea pig have diarrhea when it dont....so i have to make sure it has before i bring it to vet.....my poor piggy....offen sick i am worry...
 
if his poo is in puddles as you said i think it sounds quite bad and he needs treatment straight away from the vet.
 
actually i type wrongly.. the poop is abit solid but sticky form, not puddle arghh my mistake...but i guess it might have diarrhea.... i have feed it with pellet(which contain vitamin C) that what the package says, mixed dryfood(for rabbits, hamster,guineapig), carrots sliced up n a 1/5sweet corn...hopefully i dun think that will cause the diarrhea but i taken out the veggi from the tank
 
Do you mean the poop is unformed, but very soft and sticky, sticking together in large clumps?

I think you can be certain he does have diarrhea, albeit a "midler" form of it than the potentially life-threatening watery puddles; the cause of this digestive upset is most likely linked to his diet. Do you leave the veggies in for a long time, or do you feed them and take them out after an hour or so if they are uneaten?

Hay is important, as you already know. He needs the fibre from this to help get his digestive system running efficiently again, to help stop the diarrhea. As Wiebke said, no veggies at all for at least 24 hours until his poop starts returning to normal - and until he gets some hay. Also make sure he is drinking some water.
 
my veggi are place until the next day or abit longer until he finishes but never exceed the day after if not i will take it out...often if i see the veggi gets dirty, i will wash and put it back. i know there is something wrong with this i guess....
 
Yep, best to stop doing that. Don't leave it in the cage more than a couple of hours as fresh fruit and veg spoils very quickly. Best to offer clean, fresh veg once or twice a day, and remove any they don't eat soon after.
 
thanks, hopefully i am not being noisy cause i ask alot question .....haha but got alot more to learn from you experts
