I'm looking for an indoor run and have seen a few of you mention an elc ball pit. Ive looked on line and there are a few, if anyone uses them which one is best and can it be dismantled when not in use? Also how many hours exercise do you guineas have per day?

Hi,

I have the elc ball pit and I would recommend it, it is over 3ft square and gives two piggies loads of space to exercise in and my boars are quite big

It has 4 rods on each corner and is easy to dismantle and folds to store.

I leave my two in their most of the day, I hang the water bottle in a sock and peg it to the ball pit:))

Hi
I've got one my pigs seem to really enjoy it, they get a 2-3 hours in it every evening when My husband is out training the dogs The only comment I would make is I have never succeeded in folding back down properly so if Lily74 has any tips I'd welcome them

I've got this one - I notice it says its unavailable now from Amazon though. Its a great size and folds up into a zippy bag it comes with and has a bottle holder / hole. Its nice and tall so the piggies are safe in the event of the dogs getting into their room (not that the dogs get in there). Keeps the floor clean and dry too.

Mine spend a lot of time in it - anything from an hour to almost all day depending on the day.....

Oooh, that looks really good - I love the height of that one as my cats can be a little nosey when the piggies are out playing.

Hi Cazzy,

I have the ELC pink ball pit. Only had it for about 3 weeks and my piggies have been in it for the first time, all of this week.

I intend to make a C & C cage eventually, but for now, this gives them adequate space whilst I'm at work during the day. we then have them out during the evening to run about freely. :)

As for folding it to put it back in the box, well oh dear, lol. I have failed! We keep it flat as in square flat, (take the 4 plastic tube rods out) and then pop it behind the sofa or anywhere against a wall. Takes 2 mins to set up and I usually put a plastic sheeting in first, then layers of newspaper, then fleece on top.

Hope the pictures on here from all the members give you some inspiration. :)

Oh my goodness! Coincidences!
Your chocolate and brown guinea pig looks sooo similar to my Fudge! x)
I have the same ball pit as you and cannot fold it and have to keep it like you do!
I have a pink house for my piggies like you and same tunnel! :))

Ah you take the poles out first, then you have to know which side to start with...I will get my mum to take an instructional video of me doing it hehe!

(To be fair my sister showed me and she works in a nursery where they have loads of the things!)

Not the 4 white poles that prop the tent up, I mean the ones that are al around the edge. ;)

Ah I see! Yes they do get bent a bit but they should spring out again...it can be quite enthusiastic when it pops open again tho, i advise standing back a bit.

thank you for all the replies, will definatly get one for the piggies when they come :) good idea to put water bottle on with a sock lol was going to put a bowl of water in but ill try that one!

Your welcome Cazzy. :)

Yes, a video would be marvellous. You should see the faces I pull when I try to fold it up.

Also, Emma (Fudge and Rainbow), thanks for your comment on my pit and Dotty, (the two coloured one). :)

*wingus dingus,

I take the poles out everytime, and then I just fold it over like a triangle shape and it goes under the futon!:)) It is actually quite bendy

See I'm not the only one who can do it you lot, Lily can do it too!

I need to put mine down tomorrow as everyone keeps tripping over it so will video it when I do it, lol.

I'm planning on making a run out of the c+c grids but only putting the ziplock ties loosely at the joins so i can fold it down to fit under the sofa. have got some incontinence pads off amazon to put under fleece in the bottom.. going to try cinnamon and nutmeg in there for the first time tomorrow. hope they enjoy it!

silly question - does the bottom sit flat on the floor? and what do people use to line the run with?
i'm thinking of getting a couple of ELC runs as a temp cages for a few days whilst at father in law's over christmas.
also has anyone found a good way to cat-proof them (for when we go to my parents)?
thanks
Becca

If you are referring to the ELC runs, yes they sit flat on the floor. I line mine firstly with an offcut of plastic tablecloth bought at Dunelm Mills. I then cover that with newspaper the top that with fleece. Not sure about the cat proofing.

I never even considered this! I've been after an indoor run for ages. Something I can fold away. It would also be extremely useful on cleaning day...Because my boys have to stay in their cage at the moment and well...They like to see what mummy is doing, so I normally have them following my hands around the cage to see what's going on. :))

I really want them downstairs with me in the evenings...But I'm so strapped for cash that another cage (Which was my original idea for those who remember) was out of the question! And...I was going to buy a fold away playpen like the ones on ebay...But they're about £40.
This...This is an awesome alternative.

I do have one question...How do you strap a water bottle to it?

You will love this when you get it. Here is a pic showing the water bottled. It is in a sock pegged to the corner.

What a great idea for a guinea pig run! I just bought the 130 trixie trun, wish I'd spotted this first! Love the idea of putting the bottle in an old sock and clipping it to the side :)

That's so clever! I love it!

Oh! I want one! I'm ordering one right now! :<>

You guys are bad...Making me spend money!

This is a great idea - my only problem is that my c&c cage which is 2x5 is probably bigger than most runs. But as the cage is now in my sons room, this would be quite nice to have downstairs in the evenings, to give them a change of scenery. I have three piggys though so not as much space compared to those who use it for two x
