am worried about my piggie, Daniel. He has developed something that looks a bit like dried blood has oozed out of his skin/fur between his eye and his ear. It has come on quite suddenly. He is behaving completely normally, his appetite certainly hasn't diminished and he doesn't seem unhappy at all otherwise. When I gently tried to touch it, he didn't flinch at all. I will try and get him a vet appointment first thing in the morning. I've never seen anything like this before. It may be a fighting injury, as he does live with his brother but they are around 16 months and have lived together all their lives and have quite a lot of space. Am worried that it might be something serious :(

You are right, it could be a fighting injury as your boys are still quite young and in the hormonal stages. However, I really hope you managed to get an appointment. Please let us know how Daniel is xox

vet thinks it is most likely a fighting injury and has given me antibiotics. when she bathed it with damp cotton wool, there were traces of blood. She says a tumour is also a possibility but I got the impression it was more likely to be an injury. Daniel is the less dominant of the two. Also, it came up very suddenly but now 24 hours on, hasn't got any worse, so hoping for the best :) Hope I don't have to separate them though. If there is any repeat, I might try separate food/water bowls

A week on it still hasn't gone down despite being on Baytril. It looks less like an injury now, which makes me fear the worst. It looks round, just about the size and shape of his eye, and red :( He is due to have the Baytril up until Thursday but will try to get appointment at vet tomorrow, although he is still behaving normally and comes running over at veggie time.

Any chance of a pigture? some of the more experienced ones on here may be able to help if they have a clearer idea what it looks like ?/

he's not scratching himself because of mites, etc is he? any skin dryness/dandruff or hair loss/thinning otherwise?

probably be worth getting enough bowls, toys, water bottles etc for one each anyway- might help to lessen fallouts if it is squabbling/fighting causing it.

Hope he's healed up nicely soon.xx

I've got a pigture but can't find cable to connect to computer mallethead will try to find it later. Have been back to vet today and she has taken fine needle aspirate . She mentioned haemangiosarcoma and histiosarcoma but says but also that it could just be granulation tissue and has given me Fuciderm gel to apply. Paws crossed for little Daniel. He really didn't like the needle. Squeaked and wriggled no end :(
