So we are off on holiday for 10 days and last week l noticed that Benny was a bit quiet. Weighed him and he had lost about 50g and as l examined him he seemed in a great deal of pain, even nipping me. All l could find was that his toenail on his right front foot looked a bit odd. He already takes metacam for his bladder so l gave him an extra dose and booked him in with the lovely Ellie at Alfreton park veterinary hospital, who has already saved Benny's life twice before. By the time l took him a wound had appeared on his toe which was very linear. I suspected that something had got wrapped around his toe like a hair. Ellie agreed but felt that surgery wasn't necessary as the toe had already died and was healing itself, so she prescribed antibiotics and continued double dose metacam. Thankfully his toe is drying up and looks as if it will drop off soon. Thankyou Benny for almost scuppering my holiday plans! Glad he is ok though and that us piggy owners , when we think something is wrong, there usually is something wrong!
