My silly pc showed her eating really slow but .. my goodness the leaf just disappeared in front of my eyes :))

She's a very pretty girl x)

They're runner bean leaves - the piggies and bunnies love them :)

I've got over 50 runner bean plants growing, just so that they can have the leaves :))

Damn I don't have a garden! I might have to get my old flatmate to cultivate some runner beans and let me have the leaves :))

Lol! Mine are mad about runner bean leaves too, it's so funny watching them devour them. :)) I've got them growing up wigwams and this year have even made a runner bean tunnel..all to produce leaves for my voracious leaf eating machines - just got to get the family to eat all of the beans! :)

Amanda, you can grow them in pots on a sunny windowsill, just train them around the frame. If you want beans too then make sure you open the windows now and then to get them pollinated by bees etc.

:)) Yes, our freezer will be full to overflowing with beans this year!

My next challenge is to see if bean leaves can be dried for over winter.....

Rose's eyes are like saucers! What sort of camera is yours? I am going shopping Tuesday for a less cumbersome one than what I have, and the images that yours produces are marvelous. Of course, you have some beautiful models. . . .

I wish I had known this earlier; I suppose it isn't too late to start a small patch of them just for the leaves. I'll try it this week. OR I'll find someone else's garden and ask for theirs. . . .

You can plant beans until early July officially, but it might be worth trying some late ones just for the leaves :)

Look in places like Wilkinsons for the seeds - they usually have them reduced by now on most areas - I already have several packets of bean sees at 75% off ready for next year!

Mines a little Canon, auto focus, fool proof etc - I'm not very technical at all :))

If you were in the UK Pat I'd have posted you some seeds. I harvest loads off mine in the Autumn every year and always have spare- all from one packet of seeds about 5 years ago. :)
I'm sure neighbours will be happy for you to have some leaves as they grow back fast and most people are only growing them for the beans anyway.
Btw: Did anyone know that you can eat runner bean flowers? Just found that out from my Sarah Raven book ( she's a genius - you can make pasta sauce from radish leaves too...yay!) so our next salad will be featuring runner bean flowers as well as nastursiums..8:)

Awwww lovely first photo with her gorgeous piggie lips (watch out Glynis!). The video is great! that leaf disappeared so fast! My girls eat like that too, its so funny to watch them :))

Oh, what model? I did the camera shopping today as I said, and the Canon I was interested in was not working so that I could not see how the image looked. 8... I did go get some bean leaves, though, and I got one good shot of Redemption eating them, and I will post that in a separate thread.

I think that's the mistake we've made! We only have about 10 plants growing; and 19 pigs... I'm thinking we need to try some in the greenhouse to see if we can get some late bloomers going!

Next year I'll be making sure we have TONS of bean plants growing! :D

I remember the first time we planted the seedlings/sprouts/whatever you call them into a big planter. We went out, came back and my rabbit was sat there; no bean plants left and he had a little green stalk hanging out of his mouth... x)

Canon Digital IXUS 95IS - reading the name off the camera is a technical as I get :))
