My little brother and I were playing around while I was holding our oldest boar, Guinea. I was holding both him and a mini basketball, and when I went to pretend to dunk the ball, I accidentally dropped Guinea! Luckily, though, I broke some of the fall by holding onto his hips, but he still landed nose-first onto the floor.

I immediately picked him up, and he calmly held onto my shoulder but he was very quiet and obviously trying to comprehend what had just happened.

I immediately checked out what happened to him and made sure if he was okay. Overall he is perfectly fine, however his left tooth cracked/broke and he bit his lip.

I immediately gave him a carrot in hopes that the tooth would get stuck and come out, also to see how he would eat. He ate it perfectly fine, and calmed down almost immediately after that. He started purring, which he does when he's happy, but he really needed to be cuddled and lied down on me.

I know that there's nothing I can do about the lip, but should I take his tooth out or should I leave it in and wait for it to fall out on its own?

Extra information- A few years ago both his teeth broke completely an hour before I went on a month-long trip. I was told fell out two days later, and didn't accidentally swallow them or anything like that. He didn't need a vet visit or pain meds, and he doesn't need any now as far as I know.

Sorry this is so messy, I had to comfort my brother who thought that it was his fault, when it was mine for being such an irresponsible owner and not thinking of the consequences. We learned our lesson to not ever hold the guinea pigs while playing, and Guinea seems to have forgiven us and known that it was an honest mistake.

Good to know that I don't need to be so worried about him! I feel kind of guilty for being so stupidly irresponsible, but good to know that he'll be almost back to normal soon!

Just don't give him hard veggies (cucumber, carrots, etc) until it is fully grown in. Avoid handling him and make sure everyone you live with is aware his mouth may hurt.

Please disinfect his lip with saline solution or hibiscrub. Be aware that rodent teeth don't fall out unless they are broken; they grow continuously and are ground down by the silica in the hay/grass in the case of the teeth at the back and by moving against each other in the case of the self-sharpening incisors at the front. The incisors themselves are about 4 cm long and run along the jaw bones, but originate way back in the jaw.
See a vet if any incisors are wobbly after a fall; this means that they could be broken or damaged. If not, the broken incisor should grow back within a matter of days and the incisors will sort each other out again.

Hello, is the tooth broken off so is it shorter? Or is it cracked and splintered?
Which tooth is it?

The tooth has a visible line at the top near the gum. Of his four front teeth, it is the top left one.

I am holding him now to check up on his mouth and the tooth is super wiggly, but it doesn't seem like it's going to fall out yet.

Edit-

Before we could make a trip to the vet, Guinea's tooth came out! The gum did bleed a little but the next day it was all healed!

He's super happy now that it's gone!
