I put twiggy in the outdoor run yesterday as it was such a beautiful day but he just sits in his little house in the run or a tunnel but won't actually venture out to sniff and explore the grass at all, he seems positively terrified. I just wondered any ideas of what I can do as I thought he would love being in the garden but he doesn't seem too. They were outdoor piggys before I got them but also wondered if it could be because he is currently a lone piggy whether this could be another factor. I should be getting him a playmate soon xx

Have you tried covering up one side of the run?
I do this with mojo as he is a lone piggy as his cage mate unfortunately passed over the rainbow bridge, I find it does help him not be scared from being totally exposed

Aw ok I don't but I will put a blanket out there today. Great idea thank you

I shall give it a go now! :)) feel quite excited for him!

I did this with Zee also when she was a lone pig and after a few times of going out she was zooming around the run and popcorning so I hope your little Twiggy feels more comfortable this way.
Good luck.x

It didn't go well :( Even with a large handful of dandelion leaves he just wouldn't come out. As I'm off this week I will try everyday and see if he can overcome his fears! I think when I get him a new friend this will make a huge difference as he always was shyer than coco.

Oh no! Bless him.
Does he have a couple of bolt holes tunnels or igloo's he can hide in? So at least he can enjoy the grass even if he prefers to sit inside a hidey. But maybe a new friend who has a little more confidence so Twiggy knows it is actually safe out in the grass world. (And it's actually quite fun!)

Hi Star, Yes he has two green plastic tunnels of different sizes in there a house and a box but he just runs between them all but won't sit out and eat the grass. When I picked him up and put him back into his indoor run he seemed much happier. Role on getting him boar dating, I'm still waiting for this rescue to help me find him a mate but I would like too get him matched up asap now as I think he must be getting lonely now.

Maybe he'll get used to the new surroundings if you put him out regularly. When my boys first started coming out for playtime they spent most of their time hiding, but now they have got used to it, they hardly ever hide. :)

Hi Margaret,

Many thanks for your message I will try every day this week and see how it goes.
