Just wondering if any other piggies sit on their hide roof. Our girl Jerri likes to sit up there perched. It's a ferplast house, it's quite a jump up there which she manages easily. The way I've positioned things means she cannot get out of the cage. I'm sure it's not an attempt to escape, she just seems to like it up there..she's recently had 2 baby girls (3 wks old) I'm wondering if her being up there is like when human mummies hide in the toliet to escape our kids when things get a bit much lol.

I've had boars in the past who loved to sit on top of their hides. None of my boys I have now do though, although Red likes to squash his fleece hide flat and make a nest on top instead of sitting in it. He's just awkward though, if there's a right way and a wrong way he likes the wrong way!

Betty and Winnie like getting on top of the carrot cottage and also their wicker hidey, esp when they want to draw attention to the fact they’re hungry (just in case the air raid siren noises coming out of their mouths aren’t enough of a clue!) I have 2 young boars that jump up on hides and when their enclosure was attached to the the other one the jumped over the C&C grid which shocked me (they've since fallen out so no longer together) and when I put a carrot cottage in with my neutered boar and his 3 sows I found him on top munching away at the roof! At nearly 1.2kg I wasn't sure if he'd want to get up there but I've since seen him do it with ease, my 2yr sow I haven't seen on top but the 2 younger sows jump up there every so often but now all that's left of the carrot roof is the cardboard none of them really jump up there.

my recently adopted sows all like to sit on top of their fleece hidies to make them into nests rather than sit inside too! my boar never used to do this, but since seeing the sows do it, he does it too... maybe its them hinting that they actually want those cuddle cup type things, rather than the silly ones ive bought!

The boys used to jump on top of their corner hides when it was time for food or they were telling me (for the billionth time) they were hungry. Even though they had fresh hay and it wasn’t time for veg!

Only one of the girls appeared to be a climber from the start. She used to jump on top of the pigloo. But now both girls regularly sit on top of their hides. Same for the boys.

It used to be only one of mine who would climb on things, the other preferring his feet to be firmly on the ground, but even he decided back in the summer that it looked like so much fun that he also now happily jumps up on things!

Both Eddie and Elvis regularly sit in top of the carrot cottage to eat the roof. Elvis would occasionally sit on their old wooden house but now there's food involved it's become much more popular 🤣 They're surprisingly elegant at getting up and down too! Screenshot_20201212-101034.webp

My pigs used to do this when they were younger but seem to have grown out of it. Although they still like the upstairs area of their cage so they can be on lookout for incoming veggies. I don't think they got the memo about Guinea pigs being ground roaming creatures 🤣

How shiny is she! 😀love the fleeces
Hahaha..thank you. That's what I noticed when we adopted her last year. I kept on asking hubby if he thinks she's a satin, but he said no and that she just really have a shiny hair. 😊

All of my boars choose to sit on top of the hides. So in the end I cover them in fleece so it’s comfortable on top or inside 😂

extra C&C required near hides though, so no one jumps into the wrong house whilst they’re up there! 😂
