Just over a half an hr ago some one knocked at my door and left me some guinea pig food and also a guinea pig! They said that it was given to them and if I didnt want it then he would end up taking it to market. Havent got a clue what I'm going to do as at the beging of week i had 13 then susie had 3 babies and now this little girl, so that 17!

how do people know where to go when they need to offload their pigs? Mond you, I have a sign in my front window which says 'Beware of the Guinea pig'!:)) That gives it away a bit...

Do you run a rescue or are they your pets?

Oh dear, I don't have any suggestions about what you might do, but the only thing I do think is that at least someone had the commonsense to bring the guinea pig to you, and not abandon it or sell it in the market. Hope you are able to find a solution.

All mine are pets but most of them are rescue pigs, such as susie who had babies this week. I used to run a rescue some years ago but I am far to fussy and no one would be good enough! I have a shed where i have them in, my big pen is about 4 x 6 feet which I have 1 castrated male with 4 females, I am wondering if there will be room for her to go in there. My 2 top pens are about 3 x 3 feet and I have 3 guinea pigs in them (plus the 3 babies) Then I have a corner pen that my 2 boars live, I could get them castrated if any one has any ideas. I also have a spare 'holding' pen but I have never used it as its not very big and its more like a hutch, which I dont like. I have enough runs for them all to go out on grass when its nice weather. I dont have any worries about affording food/vetbed/hay/veg as its my 'hobbie'. Please any advice would be great xx

Well i know it is a bit much that she just landed on your doorstep but some little angel was looking after her for her not to get dumped or sold at the market, i suppose once she has been in quaranteen you will get to know her personality and make a decision on that? Do you know how old she is? Could she be pregnant?

I think for the time being this little girly will be happy in your holding pen until you can sort something out. Although I know you feel it is not ideal, I bet it is much better, and the care you will give her, far superior to what she has previously known from the people who have decided they are fed up of her. xxxxx

Oh bless your heart for taking her in - poor little girl.

Might it be best to keep her in your holding pen for 10 days or so to make sure she's healthy ? Then it would be lovely if she could live with your girls and neutered boar :) I always find it easier to introduce a new female if there is a neutered boar in the group - stops the girlies getting all handbaggy :))

Would love to see a pigture :)

Teresa x

Thanks Teresa, I had no chocie but to take her in! I have put her in my holding pen and it dosent look that bad now the vetbed is in and she is snuggled up.

I will have to think of a name for her, but I will put some pics up over the weekend x

I like that idea.... that's more than lucky...

If you can't cope with yet another piggy on top of your babies, you could contact honeybunnies on here?

It is good for you to take her in and make her comfy; I agree that she is a lucky lady! Why can't people just contact a proper rescue and take her there?

OH Mary good for you. You seem like such a wonderful lady with your piggies. I am pleased she's found you because no matter what happens now (ie you find her another home or whatever) she will be okay.

I also can't wait for a photo of her bless her little heart.

Thanks... I know Jill at honeybunnies, she helped with collecting and rehoming 4 pigggys where susie came from. I will see how she goes over the weekend, and if I need Jills help I will contact her.

She is beautiful; bless you for taking her in, she is so lucky to have ended up with you!

She's very nice. I suggest Portia (like the actress) cos it's got 'porte' in it for door, wheere she was found
