Hi all I've posted on here a few times lately about my friends guinea pig who hasn't been very well lately, well after snowey finished his last course of antibiotics about a month ago he seemed well on the road to recovery he was back to his usual normal cheeky self then I got a panicked phone call from my friend last night saying snowey had bad diahorea (sorry can't spell) I went round and his poor bum and back legs were covered so I showed my friend how to bath him and dry him I syringe feed him some water and he took that fine he seemed to perk up a little he was walking around the floor and his eyes seemed a but brighter I told my friend to keep him on dry food for 24hrs and keep an eye on him but unfortunately when she got up this morning snowy had passed away I feel terrible like I should of told her to take snowy to the emergency vets should I of made her take him? I really feel so guilty as my friend turns to me for advice about her piggy's but I'm not experienced I've only had my piggy's since Feb and she's only had here's since June she's not angry with me at all I just feel so sorry for snowy x

Please don't blame yourself.
I'm not a H&I advisor so wouldn't like to speculate what was wrong with the piggy. What I do know from keeping piggies for over 20 years is that they hide their illnesses, and they can suddenly just give up. So please don't feel bad.

Thank you I just keep thinking what if we did take snowy to the emergency vet would they been able to save him? He did perk up a little he took the water from the syringe he wondered around the floor his little eyes brightened up after his bath I just don't know what happened he was only roughly 6 months old my friend is very angry with PAH where she got him from as he's been unwell since she got him x

It sounds like you re a good friend and you did everything you could.
The advice you gave was fine, and sometimes piggies can go downhill very quickly despite our best efforts.

The same happened to my guinea after I had taken her the vets, it made no difference , when they get ill they mask it very well. t beat yourself up you did everything you could x

Thank you for all your kind words I'm currently sat snuggled with my two I'm going round to see my friend later to help her with snowy x

Agreeing with all of the above. You tried to help your friend with the piggy. You did what you could showing her how to take care of him, so don't blame yourself x

Thank you sorry to be a pain with lots of questions we have tried to take snowy out of the cage but his brother Oreo won't let us near him he keeps running to him and pushing our hands away how do we get snowy from the cage as he passed away early hours of this morning just worried about Oreo reaction x
