Hello everyone,

It's been quite a while since I last logged on and posted, finally finished my project for uni so I have more time to myself now. I've logged on now and then to have a look but not had time to post unfortunately :( Just updated my profile from time to time.

A lot of things have happened since my last visit also. Our piggy-population has grown even more - I've taken in a couple more pigs that were unwanted by their owners, so our grand total now stands at 11 little squeakers! rolleyes

As some of you may recall, when I joined the site, I had 2 pigs: Coconut and Cinnamon who went on to have 3 daughters: "Marble, Toffee and Biscuit", born on Christmas Day 2010, all of whom I kept. I then took in 2 sows from a [*]former[/*] friend who had intentionally bred her pigs and hadn't been able to sell these last 2 pups: "Sooty-Pig and Brandy-Snap". A couple of days later, I was contacted by someone else, who found me through a friend, desperate to give away a boy and a girl. Obviously, having Coconut already meant that the boy was a no-no but I gave her the number of a friend who also keeps pigs, in case. I took in the girl "Mocha". My friend did take in the boy :(|)

I'm not sure but I think thats where I was up to, the last time I posted.

Well, I desperately needed them anyway so I stocked up on more Cage Cubes and Correx. I didn't know it at the time, but it went towards a new cage as well as further expansions for my current ones.

Anyway, since then, I've acquired 3 more pigs. A Teddy sow "Caramel", a Teddy boar "Rasher" and a baby Rex boar "Wiiiiieek". All three were unwanted by their owners. Also, every time I check my local RSPCA, they never seem to have any pigs :{ Good I suppose, either they dont have any that need rescuing or they've already gone to good homes... I am determined to rescue a pig from them!

Since I had enough materials to make another massive dual level cage, this time I was able to accept the two new boys. I also have new cage set-ups for everyone: massive rabbit cage (about the same as 3:5 C+C) with 2nd level expansion has Coconut (neutered), Cinnamon and the babies, Sooty and Brandy-Snap in... Extra large rabbit cage (about the same as 2:4 C+C) with 2nd level expansion has Caramel and Mocha in and the new 2:4 C+C cage with 2nd level expansion has Rasher and Wiiiiieek in as they came together as bonded friends.

Once Rasher and Wiiiiieek are neutered and the 6 week period after has passed, I'll put Rasher and Caramel together in the larger of the two cages and Mocha and Wiiiiieek in the other - hopefully everyone will get on, if not they'll stay as they are. Either way, I want the two boys neutered.

... ... ... Thats about it, I think... currently waiting for a Pets at Home order to come, hopefully today with a new water bottle, shampoo, muesli, bedding, a new house for the largest cage and some more hay. 8)

I hope everyone else is well xx>>>

hopefully talk to you all soon (as I am off to bed now) -c

ps, I don't know why, but I saw/ heard Caramel chirping like a little bird earlier, she did it for about 10 minutes. I've heard it before, but this time I could see it was her as her mouth and ears were moving with each chirp :)) I know that not a lot is known about their chirping but was wondering if anyone has any theories?

x

Hi lovely to see you again, WOW your update ...... you're crew has grown again :(|)x)x)
Would love to see some pics of the little darlings if you've got time :)

I have not heard the chirpping from any of my piggies, but quite a few on here have! Nobody seems to know for sure why they do it...... :))

Well done on finishing your uni project!

IT's lovely that you've taken in so many unwanted piggies xx>>>
I just can't understand why people go and get pets and then think nah don't want that.........and dump them :0

Hey... I do have pics, I'll sort through them and upload some...

I don't understand people like that either!

Oh, WOW!

You have certainly been moving on! I am looking forward to pics very much.

Btw - I'm up to 11 piggies as well; with a new neutered boar as Llewelyn sadly died from cancer.

Wow up to 11 pigs in such a short time, they are addictive aren't they :)) It's great that you took in unwanted ones.

I in December 09 I had only one guinea pig, now have 5, and 5 rabbits :P

PICTURE UPDATES ON ALL 11 PIGS... Whew!

Ok, here are the pics of all 11 pigs... took me a while, some of the pics I had weren't big enough to do in this way so I had to take more. I had to use some baby pics as well, for the more wriggly of the pigs and some of the bath pics, were taken by my fiance while I held on to the struggling squeakers! rolleyes Also, I'm teaching them "Back". When I say back and they want to go back to their cages, I put my hand up to their noses and they put their paws up on my fingers hehehe - Coconut is the best at it so far. They are on my Fiance, Rob in some pics as well lol

What a gorgeous tribe you have!

I must say that I have fallen in love with Rasher x)

Oh my, Coconut is adorable. I'm not kidding, the cute pigtures of long haired piggles on here is making me crazy!

All of your tribe are a-DORABLE! x) I love them all, little cuties!

I've just gone from 2-7 in the space of about 2 weeks... I'm considering buying a shed now so I have room for more if I find myself being asked to take some in (happened the last time I had this many guinea pigs, but I was only 15/16 so I couldn't do it!).

Why are guinea pigs such addictive little critters? @)

lol thank you...

I think a shed would be good for us too... but we don't have a proper garden. We bring in grass and dandelion but a shed just wouldn't fit there :( It's hard when you're asked to take them, you want to help but space is always an issue :(
