A

austin and bandit!

Hi all! I'm looking for some help! I'm planned to be away in feburay for the following dates feb 12th - 14th and cant find anyone willing to look after my piggies! :{ Does anybody know of any small pet places who look after pets while people are away in the Taunton (Somerset) Area or is anyone willing to care for them for me while away? they will be repaid for their services!

If i cant find anything I'm going to have to take them with me but have them staying in their cage in the car as i cant really walk into a hotel with a cage under my arms can i! most hotels wont even let you take a dog in!

Have you asked at your vets or local rescues? Some do occasional boarding or know somebody who does.

not yet. i only just got the dates today. Ive never had this problem before as this is the first time i have got a pet since moving down south! i think il give my local vets or the rspca place a ring for local info. thanks for the tip!

careful with the rspca and there cages, I'm not sure about over there but over here many have been found to house piggies in very small cages with wire bottoms:...

thanks for the warning id check out anywhere 1st before making any desisions!
Be interesting at the RSPCA place though as the small pet lady there said it wouldnt be possible for two young boars to bond and that there would be fights all the time! All i have had between these two is petty squibling mainly over food and for the warmest corner of their little house!

thats good that you will check it out.
Yes i find the rspca to know very little about pigs, over here they advise never keeping males together and one lady i know once found they had males and females mixed together because they didnt know how to sex them!

I guess piggies take a little more commitment than that;)

Otherwise, could you try and find a neighbour for just three days/two nights?

I put the piggy food already cut up and neatly labelled in icecream boxes in the fridge, so the neighbour only needs to empty the appropriate box of food, top up the pellets and the hay.

Ive heard enough stories of mistreated animals to want to make sure 100% my little boys will be in good hands!
I'm pretty new to the area I'm living in and dont know my neighbours one bit!mallethead i can always ask though!
The OH has just emailed me with a link to a boarding/ rescue place thats only 5 mins from mine! i might have to call in and see whats it like

The lady that comes in to walk my dog and play with him if we go out for a full day, also feeds the cat and feeds the guineas. Maybe try your local dog walking/sitters, mine are great. x
