My guineas sleep throughout the day etc. but i do notice they're up at night and at time's like now at 2:45 am so my question is, i have a pretty dim light on at all times for them by the cage so they can still use the ramp and see their way around. is this okay or am i encouraging them to not sleep even more than they already don't?:zzz::zzz:

Guinea pigs are most active in the mornings and the evenings; that is their main feeding/eating time. They get up and browse occasionally during the day and once or twice during the night. Youngsters are fully on the go when they are awake; they are also at their loudest until they are about 4-5 months old, as that is the time when they are at their most vulnerable. Things will hopefully quieten down to some degree in a few months.
Whether you want to have a low light on or not is up to you.

the noises are no issue to me, i usually leave it on it's a nice dim lighting if i have to get up i was just wondering if it was an issue for them

No, it is not an issue for them to prevent them from sleeping.

I leave a lamp on for the boys so they can see their way around too! My main reason was that we live on a main road so I'd be worried that they would get scared of the strange noises if they couldn't look around to make sure they're safe (like meerkats) :)

I have a salt lamp that is on where the boys' cage is. Never seems to have bothered them all these years.

Mine are in the family room, which is in our basement, so they get light in a somewhat inconstant pattern (I'm usually home in the daytime since I work from home, but I do go out sometimes in the afternoon when my work is done, in which case I do turn off the lights. We have small bay windows, so it is not pitch black during the daytime even with the lights out, but it is definitely dark.) Plus I'm somewhat of an insomniac, so there is no standard 'lights out' time at night. I honestly don't notice them being affected much by the lights going on and off, and I don't see any difference in their general routine when I am at the cottage, where they get much more natural light. They tend to be active in the morning (hay o'clock!) and in the evening (play time, lap time, kids are at home and interacting more with them.) They doze a lot during the late morning/earlier afternoon, with occasional wandering around and eating/drinking. I do hear them drinking at night and occasionally squabbling over the pigloo at night, so it appears they are sporadically active even when it's quite dark, and I imagine they know their environment well and can smell their way around adequately to navigate even in the dark. Mine snooze most of the afternoon even though it's the brightest time for them, so I don't think a light would be affecting their sleep. They just don't have a long, sustained period of sleep like some other animals would. They are nappers by nature.
