My guinea pig Frances is recovering from a mystery illness where she stopped eating and pooping. She has been on metacam and metronidazole for a week and metoclopramide for almost a week. She’s finally started pooping a little and munching on hay and pellets on her own but HATES when I give her critical care. When is ok to try to give her veggies again?

@Chelseyys i have moved this post to a new thread
It is always best to start new threads on illness issues and not post in others with questions about your own piggy - as this can lead to confusion on the original posters thread. I have started a thread for you and moved you post to the thread

As she got another check up at the vets? The metachlopromide should be helping keeping things going through.
It is great news she is eating hay and pellets, how long does she have left in her metronidazole course?
What did the vet say was wrong with her? Sending her lots of healing vibes

Please help my poor guinea pig Frances has been sick for almost 2 weeks now. We have been to the vet 2 times and are planning to go back today. Originally I noticed that her appetite was down and that she wasn’t pooping as often. She also seemed a little uncomfortable when trying to use the bathroom. On 8/6/19 I took her to the vet checked her teeth and prescribed metacam and antibiotic. Frances got her appetite back a bit but then did not have a single poop in over 24 hours. I rushed her back to the vet on 8/8/19 and she was given subcutaneous fluids and metoclopramide. She seemed a little better but still no poops. I woke up on 8/10/19 to a huge pile of about 15-20 poops and was thrilled! Until she didn’t eat her dinner that evening or produce many more. That must have been all of the backed up poop in her system, which at least showed that she didn’t have a blockage in her gut. On 8/11/19 I cried all day because she refused all of her veggies and didn’t leave her igloo. I began feeding her critical care in addition to the medicines. 8/12/19 I stopped all veggies and continued the critical care. On 8/13/19. we seemed to turn a corner. She was munching on kibble and hay through the day and drinking plenty of water on her own. Same for 8/14/19. I was so happy! I still was supplementing with critical care but last night she screamed when I opened the fridge for veggies and I thought she may have been better so I gave her one leaf of lettuce which she promptly devoured and then drank water, ate pellets and some hay. But then I noticed that she sounded a little uncomfortable again. I took her out and put her on a massage pad and she laid what I think was a cecal poop. It was huge, kinda slimy and looked oddly shaped, but she ate it righty away. I gave her metacam and metoclopramide. She played around for exercise time and was running around quickly and exploring. Also ate a little more hay. But by bedtime she was chirping and squeaking looking like she was trying to use the bathroom! She lifts up with a squeak but nothing comes out! I gave her a little more metacam to help her through the night. I could hear her squeaking all through the night! Please help me! I am so worried over the past few weeks and now I don’t know if this is gut related or bladder related or both! She’s on my lap now and I can hear her stomach gurgling and she didn’t look like she peed or pooped last night unless she ate them. Sorry for the long post. I am going out of town tomorrow and my mom will be babysitting Frances. I was hoping she would be better by now and I’m very afraid and sorry for her.

I just started a big new thread. Can I combine that with this one? The metronidazole was supposed to end Monday but I gave it to her on Tuesday as well. We are going back to the vet today. She never really diagnosed her though. She said that maybe she had a bacteria in her gut that was producing gas.

She does need to see a vet again, perhaps the vet adding in ranitidine may help her tummy a little more, it does sound like she may be bloated

tagging @Wiebke for you for further advice

Gut statis is mention in this thread here Bloat, GI Stasis (No Gut Movement) And Not Eating

I would advise getting some probiotic for her also, if you are struggling to syringe feed Critical Care you can always mush up the dry pellets you feed her with a little water, syringe feeding guide here Complete Syringe Feeding Guide
