I ordered a selection of treats from Aunt Sallys (http://www.auntysallys.co.uk/) a few wheeks ago.

I decided to let the piggys do a taste test and see which they liked most..

Here's how it went :
First I decided to lay some of each round the play pen & note which were where :

Then it was time to release the piggies - Smartie, naturally was first to investigate:

Rolo and Sherbet got stuck into the grassy logs:

And the first prize goes to ..... drum roll please ...... Grassy Loggets .... 6 out of 8 pigs preferred them :))

Also, favourites, given 5* (top rating) by the piggles were Organic Green Oat, Organic Meadow Hay and Organic Nettle (all from the taster pots)

4 Stars to Alfalfa and carrot tasters

Sherbet also liked the barley grass and flowers....

In the end they all were well received and the piggies had a fun, but tiring time deciding what to munch :)

Awww, that is such a cool idea! It must have took some work but very rewarding you are a good slave!

Oh wow, what very very lucky piggies! :)) I'm still waiting to put my order in so this was very useful, thank you! They look like they're having a fab time! Pampered piggies is just amazing!

:)).. Love Toffee''s picture.

What a well organised taster session, Good to know the Logs where a favourite we ordered them to along with lots of other goodies. Think me and the piggies will have to do a taste test of our own :o.

Love Sherbet tormenting the downstairs pigs how cruel! xx

Yes, isnt it nice to see Toffee now without bulging eyes :)) She did come out for the taste test but didnt want the papparazzi around rolleyes

Yes please - would love to see more taste sessions on the go - it really is worth the effort :) especially when the piggies zonk out after it :)) Want to see Milo and the gang doing this :))

Sherbet was really being nice to the downstairs piggies .... not so sure Smartie felt the same though. You can see the nasty sore on Sherbets side on that photo (not her best side ;) )

Pointing out the more girls flaws - This isn't star magazine you know! This is OK... :))

In all honestly I had to look again.. Glad that's healed up now! x

Yes, its healed up nicely thanks. I think its just more obvious on a skinny than hairy pig. I still dont know if it was a bite or something else (eg ringworm?) but no other piggy seems affected so fingers crossed its on the way out :)

Sherbert! you cheeky monkey! :(|):(|)

mmmmmmmmm those logs do look yummy! wish we could get stuff like that..........our customs always takes out the nice nom noms sent over tho :0:0

Five stars for the day

This was a wonderful thread, very informative re: the taste test, and re: Sherbet's condition. I had questions, but they were all answered as I read. My first thought upon seeing the lesion was "ringworm"; that's what it looks like on my friend's children when they get it once in a while. Thank you also for posting the results of the taste test!

Thanks Pat :)

Sherbets 'sore' appeared at a time where one of her 'friends' (Rolo) turned moody on them all and pulled mouthfuls of hair out of several of the hairy pigs. I initially assumed Rolo had bitten Sherbet ..... but then another 'bite' appeared and it looked more like the chance it was ringworm. None of the other pigs seemed to catch it though so I never found out to be honest but treated her for ringworm anyway .... just in case .... I read somewhere that stress can bring it on and the cage was stressful at that time too due to Rolo being a monster for about 2 weeks.... Rolo is okay now too and getting on with the rest again .... thankfully :))

xx

Oooh! I was considering getting some of the grassy logs. They're the loglets that you have? I wonder how big the normal ones are then! I may order some loglets and maybe a couple of the bigger ones for my husboar and wife pair; they're good at sharing. :)

Yes, its the loglets in the pictures there ...... mine are not always as good at sharing :))

That's a great idea- now I know what to get my piggies! WOW- Your lil piggie cookie, looks exactly like my lil one Candy! (Long lost siblings?) :))

Sooo many lovely treats to chose from - my piggies are a bit finnicky with dried food, they love Green Oat and Dandelion mix though which I buy from Wilkinson's, £2 per bag. I had a pack of Burgess Excel Dandelion and Nettle from my vet last week - they went crazy for it so maybe I have just not experimented enough. Have spent £££'s on stuff that they won't touch.
Really think they'd like the grassy logs Aunt Sally has though...rolleyes

One good thing I liked was the taster pots they had on the site - so I could buy lots of little pots of things rather than buy a whole jar and find they didnt like it. That also made the taste test more fun as there was more variety and also more affordable .... it all mounts up rolleyes

The grassy loggets did go down well though and I think there was about 10 in the pack if I remember rightly....
