I really look forward to when the children have gone to bed and the house is quiet so I can make the piggies their salad, have some cuddle time with them and log on and read this forum. It’s just lovely to be able to do so this and speak to other people who are like me.

cuddling piggies is definitely an anxiety-relief. thankfully i don't have kids, so the guineas are all to myself! huhuhu. they're just so cute, how can you not love them? and to top it all off, this forum is very nice. they've been very tolerant of my mistakes! LOL

Thanks for the thread, really. I couldn't agree more with every single post. I actually have learned and am learning just so much-I'm a way better piggy slave thanks to every thread here. US time is even good for this insomniac. Up most of the night and morning with the babies and this forum :-).

I have two chihuahuas (one is hubby's baby). My older one is very sensitive and has gotten me through some migraines that have floored me with the increasing severity. Now with meds, the mix is my nights sometimes becoming very long. So, here I am on our couch almost across from the guinea pig cage and wouldn't you know, I have a night of migraines, Lolli (my chi) on my chest and one of my guinea pigs is staring at me from the top level of her cage. I was kind of squinting and she keeps staring at me then starts wheaking at me. My daughter happened to just come down to check on me and see if I needed my meds when she saw Pippin there. I said I didn't need my meds but look at Pip. My daughter got her a bit of lettuce, put her on our carry out blanket and set her on my chest after moving Lolli. I was surprised that even this little guinea pig helped a bit with the distraction and pain. She just kept looking at me with those big, adorable guinea pig eyes and then plopped down on her side and slept on my chest for quite some time.

No one but the wonderful people here and my family would believe me lol. My new neighbor across the street asked about my son's cat from the window and showed me her cats, whom she absolutely loves. My daughter and I talked as much about our guinea pigs. She looked for a moment, smiled and said, "Guinea Pigs? I thought they were just like rats." Well I've had them out in our new guinea pig area where I garden and this neighbor did come to see them. I think maybe there is a new convert for their cuteness lol.

I know I'm lucky for finding this forum but I think my guinea pigs are really lucky for it too :-).

We have 3 chihuahua! We adore them and they get on with our piggies. In fact they are even friends. Totally agree with how animals help with illness. Our little girl has a life limiting terminal illness and the animals help her cope and us too

Our piggies are family pets just like our dogs. We have two adopted children and one has a life limiting terminal illness and our animals not only help our daughter but they help us relax. It’s a break from medicines and treatments etc and I’m so lucky my hubby loves them as much as we do.

I am really so sorry to have read this-has to be extremely difficult. I don't know what a person can do without the love of pets honestly.

Our chihuahuas are 3 and 8 lbs. Both love the guinea pigs but the little one (hubby's girl, Bella) really plays with them. My daughter's guinea pig is an adult. He simply can't be with another guinea pig at all but Bella is always playing with him and even following him into his open cage to play around :-).

warmest thoughts and wishes for health and happiness in your home. Sounds like there's a lot of happiness to go around there.

So sorry to read about your daughter. Pets are wonderful therapy in such difficult situations. Hope we can continue to support your family as you cope and give your daughter a love filled life for as long as she has.

Thanks, hopefully she has plenty of time left, new treatments are in trial and there are options such as transplant to help prolong life. She is well at the moment so that’s the main thing.
