That is amazing. I would love to have a set up like that for my piggies..

Wow that looks so cool! Love it. You have a very talented OH. Wish we could make something like that. The best we could manage was making a rectangular cage out of wood and putting lino down on the floor of it.

Wow! What a fabulous piggy house! It looks so professional. :rose

I really hope my little girl doesn't see this otherwise I'm in trouble lol, she'd kill for that.
At the moment she has a pink guinea pig castle but I think she'd deffo want that more and probably painted pink lol.
It really is brilliant, bet your pigs will love it.

I keep coming back to this thead it looks fab already but i cant wait for it to finished and full of piggies. :(|)

How many more sleeps before we see the finished palace?:))

getting there!

ok here's the latest photo:

the 2 coats of primer on the top is now finished so i can paint them before they are sealed and lino put on the base.
The doors are complete now done but the bottom layer needs to be finished

gonna be another 2 weeks of work, but it will be worth it!

I'm in contact with a local rescue for Piggies so in a couple of weeks i will go and choose/reserve some sows - they have seen a pick of piggy topia and are very impressed so its just a case of my girls getting on with new comers! So I'm hoping all will be complete and new arrivals will be in by end of feb latest!

If I were a piggy, I would want you to adopt me! :flower

I think this has to be the best piggy cage I have ever seen! Its so neat. I have a C&C that looks like an eyesore but this one looks great!

That looks amazing! I have a question though, as I am in the middle of building something similar for our boys.... Are you not concerned about them gnawing the wood?

Our Albert is a real chewer and has now had a go at every single chair leg in the house - no matter how many gnaw logs/treats/parsley bells/willow tubes/seagrass mats [etc, etc] he has! I proudly put my semi-complete creation on the floor the other day, turned my back, and turned round to find he had already scurried over and taken a big chunk out of one side! I swear he ran off laughing!

The wood he attacked was a generic 'softwood' from B&Q, so maybe plywood is less tasty? I'm concerned about them eating it though if it is actually Pine as I understand this can be toxic. I'm also concerned that they would chew threw the paint [it was painted when he attacked it so the smell/taste obviously didnt put him off].

How do you think your girls will treat the wood? Are there any tricks you'll be employing to stop gnawing? Any ideas would be great - at the moment my solution is to cover the inside frame with a perspex window that they cant get any traction on to gnaw! - an expensive solution though!

next stage done!

hi! we were going to put a sealent on, which when dry is like a layer of plastic, so they wont be able to chew on it But we have changed our minds as the sealant isnt 100% animal safe, but my girls dont really seem to be chewers, so hopfully i'll be ok.

i think i'll worry about it when it happens!
this is the latest pic with the top section complete, except for the hole in the fleece to get to the bottom layer and the ramp is not finishef - but i just wanted to see what it will look like when its done!

wow that looks really cool!

you may want to put someting by the top house though because they might get curious and fall down the side

Ooooooo it looks fab x) such lucky piggies x)

thanks all.
dont worry Shauna, you cant see by the pic but there is quite a bit lip either side of the house so they couldnt get over it and the ramp is a good distance from the side to prevent any accidents - they would have to be very determined piggies to get over the side!
