Just wondering... do pigs have very good vision? Also it seems they have a very good sense of smell and are Great at hearing thing ;D
Is that true do you think?

I read that piggies don't have very good vision but excellent hearing. Their hearing pitch goes lower and way higher than ours. They have good sense of smell :)

Or so I read ::)

Apparantly they dont have good vision but a good sense of 'geography' like if you let them out in the same place a couple of times they'll remember thier way round and where all the little hidey places are, i know mine do! :D

Guineas don't have very good vision and use their sense on smell, hearing and feeling such as whiskers to get around. Beautifulcat83 is also right in saying that they'll remember their way around. :)

Oh thats so cool :)

Yes I have noticed all my pigs and bunnies Run to the frist hidey place they can find ;D

Eye sight is very poor, but in colour...well some colours. Sense of smell and hearing is very acute, you watch if they're on your lap and somebody comes quietly into the room, they hear it way before you do O0 And smell the way they pop their cute little heads up and have the full on sniff going even their piggie lips are parting trying to get the scent they're on... soooo cute :smitten:

O0 Appparently they do see in colour, I would love to see through the eyes of a guinea. :)

I'm sure their vision isn't very good because I can put a treat almost right in front of them and they still seem to sniff all over for it, sometimes going past it and coming back! (I do hand feed as well!)

Their hearing is very very good, and their sense of smell. I read that you shouldn't have a piggy in the same room as the TV as the TV emits high pitched sounds that only the piggies can hear and they don't like it? Anybody else heard that?

Yes, I'd heard that it wasn't a good idea to have them in the same room as a TV because it affects their hearing.

I believe it will only affect them depending on how loud the T.V. is and how close the guinea is near but yes I have heard if the T.V. is to loud or a guinea is basically right next to a T.V. it will cause them much distress and interfere with their hearing. :)

wow! thats weird... i never knew that! does it matter if the TV is off?

oh no :( Poor loves. The hutches are quite near the TV but they are usually in the run when I watch TV in the evening. Will be careful now.

I know what you mean! I usually watch TV while snuggling the pigs... will turn it of or turn it down now ;D
