Today I noticed that one of my boy piggies eyes were bleeding. I have since cleaned up the wound with a saline solution. It looks better now. I have booked him into the vets, but not sure if I should go.

Trouble is I don't know if its from scratching (more than likely) or fighting. My sister is looking after the piggies for 4 days. She is sort of an animal expert, so I know antibiotics will be no probs to her.

Hard to say. Have you seen any signs of fighting? Sharp bits in the hutch/cage? Hay Poke? Definitely worth a visit to vets to ward off infection. Best of luck x

i believe it is better to be safe than sorry - personally i would go to the vets

Personally, I would go to the vets, especially as you are going away.

Ask your sister to have an eye out for fighting; but it could well have been just a scratch.

I am definitely taking him to vets. I think it might be better to have him on antibiotics. I suspect though that the cause is scratching, purely based on were the cut is and the previous mite infestation.

Thank you evey-one x

Is the cut around the eye or actually on the eye? Fucithalmic or chloramphenicol drops should help to prevent infection.
