the wee from one of my piggies leaves white powdery residue on their blanket , ive read that its not really anything to be concerned about and they were doing that when I got them from a rescue but..

Is it a sign that they are eating too much of certain things or that they will have problems in the future?

They usually get:

Lettuce (romaine, little gem, rocket, round) daily
Cucumber daily
Carrots daily
Spinach 2-3x weekly
Chard 2-3x weekly
Celery daily
Pepper 2-3x weekly
Apple 1 x weekly
Readigrass 2-3x weekly
Tomato 1 x weekly

they get other bits and bobs but they are less regularly

I know they are meant to get certain phosphorus to calcium ratios but they just wont eat it! They only things they really go insane over and never leave any of are lettuces and spinach

If you go on guinea pig lynx and search urine it tells you what is normal and what isn't. Powdery deposits are calcium deposits which are normal so long as it isn't gritty.

Mine also sometimes leave these deposits, I read it's normal unless the residue feels gritty rather than powdery.

I also read that there is a possibility that piggies excrete the excess calcium they don't need in this way, which may be a good thing if it stops their bodies building it up into stones, not sure if that is true though rolleyes
