I am sat in the vets waiting room as my piggy Sammy is being scanned for a possible bladder stone.
Yesterday I noticed she had a really wet bottom so had a vets appt at 5pm. She was wincing in pain and vet thought she could feel something. Come to the bigger surgery to have some investigations and being pregnant trying to hold it together.
Anyone any experience of this and positive vibes much appreciated x

Best of luck that it is just a bad UTI! Thankfully, bladder stone operations in girls are usually pretty straight forward and tend to heal quickly without problems.

My 4 year old Cariad has had one at the beginning of November and she has bounced right back despite being only 700g at the time with a whopping 11mm stone that had grown in a matter of weeks. My Minx even went through two bladder stone ops 14 months apart several years ago.

here is more information which you may find helpful:

Please make sure that you hand feed any piggy that is not eating well after an operation, if necessary throughout the night. Little but often does the trick. The guts will shut down otherwise. if you go through an op, make sure that you ask the vet for Critical Care if you haven't got any at home or feed mushed up pellets instead. Also make sure that you keep a piggy that is not eating hydrated. The piggy will not be very cooperative.

Well £52 later, and an X-ray being done there is no bladder stone :)) I have been given 3 lots of medicine for Sammy. Baytril, Metacam(to which the dosage seems wrong so I am only give 0.2ml not 2 ml as the box says and emeprid. She is happily eating some hay but am expecting it might give her the squits so will keep an eye on her and reduce veggies for a day or two.

Great news that there is no stone :) I would advise you contact your vet regarding the dosage although I agree that 2ml is high. I would also advise you asking your vet for some probiotics to settle Sammys tummy as your are right that Baytril can cause soft poops. If you are unable to get probiotics from your vet, I have used this before which is available from pets at home http://www.petsathome.com/shop/proc-probiotic-100gm-by-vetark-15796

If you see no improvements with the Baytril, you may like to ask your vet for Septrin which is a better antibiotic for piggies with UTI's x
