Hi everyone,

recently I have taken my 6 month old guinea pig to the vet where she ruled out him having bladder stones (2 smaller and 1 larger). She went over the high Risk of fatality with surgery and said we could put him on a medication that would hopefully break down the stones as well and put him on a pain medication. I was hoping to hear from you guys if you had a similar occurrence happen with your piggies.
he winces when he pees and poops and has bloody pee off and on :( the vet said she did not recommend putting him down but has not got back to me in regards to the medication.
I truly feel helpless at this point. He is very off and on, some moments he is very happy and eating and others he is screaming in pain. if anyone has any tips or ideas on how to help him please let me know!

I don’t have personal experience of stones but to my knowledge the only way of dealing with them is with surgery.
The risk with surgery will always be there but with an experienced vet the risks can be reduced. He needs those stones removed though.
