I'm just very proud today.
I dehaired 11 piggy fleeces and 6 towels. I washed 6 fleeces and 5 towels. I cleaned out the cage while the boys are in the run and am halfway through building their hay loft. I've been putting off the hay loft for weeks but I've got a taste for running around for my boys now! So I jumped right into it!

I've been giving them a slice of cucumber each, every hour on the hour to make sure that they're getting some liquids and am changing their bottle every 2 hours, on top of moving around the sheet on their cage to make sure it's constantly shaded in the right places.
Constantly checking their iced bottles are cold and when they're not, I'm popping them back in the freezer and breaking out some more (I have like 10 bottles in the freezer!)

Then I bought them some treats! I am now taking a well deserved break 8) with a cuppa, of course.

Come on, shout it out ladies AND you men, of course.
It's about time you blew your own trumpets and told us what YOU do for your piggies and how awesome you are.
I won't take no for an answer! xx>>>

I AM impressed!

I feel just a bit harried from changing the piggy cage and hospital cage nearly every day (or as often as my washing machine will take it) in order to get on top my cystitis epidemy and minimise a further spread. It's driving me mad! You may call me the pig-o-laundromat...

Sounds like you've had a very productive day! Well done!

Edward's been in his indoor pen and on fleece for the first time today, not sure what he thought of it, but I was VERY excited! :(|)

I'm sure they appreciate it.
But you still got some unwell piggies? :( poor babies.
I think you deserve this cup of tea more than I do!

I think Super-Wiebke suits you more than pig-o-laundromat :))

Exhausted Super-Wiebke is more like it... :(

We seem to have finally worked past the URI in order to play musical chairs with UTI! mallethead

Just in case anybody is wondering why I'm not donating at the moment - I'm single-handedly keeping my vet going!

Back to making up piggy cage yet again...

Poor piggies and poor YOU. It sounds like it's complete mayhem and clearly very hard work.
On top of that...It really does cost a fortune when they aren't very well and like everyone else here...We'd pay any price to keep them well, wouldn't we?

I do hope they get better. For your sake as well as theirs.

I am hoping so as well...

Sadly, there are SOME drawbacks to a big group and one of them is passing things on! Especially if it's a pretty resistant strain of bacteria!

So sorry, Wiebke! I had no idea that you were facing such difficulties.

Wheeks to all of your tribe!

Having spent all day in my slobs watching TV and eating (also known as pretending to revise), I was put to shame by you lot and your devotion to clean piggies!

So, now I have three immaculate piggies (including Dexter, who is getting over his recent bout of illness by pooping his own body weight, so he won't stay clean for long), all brushed and checked and trimmed, and spotlessly clean hutches. I even brushed and hosed the 'pig corner' of the garden and put on a wash with all the piggy towels and fleeces!

I think I'm allowed to go back to vegging in front of the TV now! rolleyes

It's nice to know that we inspired you :))

I have just finished the hayloft and have put my boys back in their cage.
They're...A little unsure. I don't think they're too bothered but I'm proud of it, either way! If they want all that yummy hay, they'll have to go up their eventually. Although I did put some on the bottom floor...I couldn't be THAT cruel xx>>>

I wish I was that motivated! I have guests coming on saturday so I need spotless pig cages and freshly bathed boys! How do you de-hair your fleece?

I use one of those. I hang my fleece on the line and brush it until it's to my liking. I find I have to rotate the fleece a few times.
Also, when the brush gets clogged up with hair, I hoover it off and it's as good as new and ready to go again.
It's a miracle brush. I love it!

This brush is the best one I have found for pet hair

It's brilliant on fleece, sofas, etc. But the BEST way of getting hair off fleece blankets is to use a latex glove and kind of sweep it off with your hand. Works brilliantly!

Okay today I have cleaned out every cage, washed dried and put away all the bedding. Every guinea has had all meals and are all eating their tea of veggies as we speak.

I'm a happy bunny!

Oh! Is that one of those like, static ones that attract the hairs to it?

No a regular latex glove. I but them by the box and use them when I clean out the cage every day.

Wow, really!
I had no idea they were that useful.

I might try this out for myself.
With the combined power of latex gloves and uber brush, I might get my fleeces even more hair-free than ever :)

I am using latex gloves as well for cleaning out the cages, especially the spot clean!

They are a godsend for the spot clean! It's pretty grim with a big herd but latex gloves help alot. They allow you to clean out and use hands normally. I tried rubber gloves and vinyl and neither were as good.

Yep I use latex gloves for cleaning out and poo picking too, they're really useful!
