I'm currently an Assistant Beaver Leader with my local Scout Group and we're having a pets night next Wednesday. The beavers are all going to make pet rocks, and i'm taking Pippin and Poppy so that they can all have a stroke. However, because we have a rather rowdy bunch they're only going in in pairs and they're being supervised by two adults at all times (I don't trust the beavers at all).

Will try and take some photos, am going to take plenty of hideys for the girls and some enticing veg but they're being put in the quietest room we can find. They're normally pretty good with new places so fingers crossed it's not too stressful. If anyone has any tips they'd be appreciated.

Also, if anyone has any ideas of what the kids could do that is pet related and fun please feel free to suggest, but please bear in mind they're 6-8 years olds!

Oh that sounds fun :) And a good opportunity for some education about the welfare needs of pets.

My son is 7 and his school have a "pets corner" at their fun days - its always fine and the children are really good with them. I hope it goes well for you.

What about outlines of guineas for them to colour in or use straws to make piggy puppets or coloured paper or wool to glue on them
