I've got 2 pigs being handed over to me tonight, they had phoned the vets and another local rescue because 'the dog is going to eat them otherwise'. Turns out the child had dropped one of the guinea pigs and the dog got to it first and had it in her mouth :{

Anyway, 2 x 2 year old smooth haired boars are now being delivered to mine tonight after work - will post pics when they arrive! They'll be up for rehoming as soon as they've had some time with me in quarantine to make sure all ok.

All those why questions again? Parents, kids, dogs? So glad you are taking these two boys in. They must have been terrified.

I am so pleased that they are coming to you and will be safe ... love them!

I loathe the type of people who threaten to have them put down or allow other sticky ends to make the rescues take them in, it's absolutely disgusting. Wouldn't it be a perfect world if rescues could have tape recorders attached to their phones to record these kinds of threats so they can be reported and prosecuted!

Here they are:

They've obviously been well looked after, and the owner was really sweet - just didn't know what to do with their new Springer who was out of control around the pigs.....

But I don't disagree, Boureki, some people GRRRRR! Especially the ones who threaten to dump them or 'let them go free' if a rescue won't take them.

Ah, ok, fair enough if the owners were genuinely ok, I read it that it was a threat! But we all know it goes on :(

I had my suspicions too but he was genuinely upset about having to rehome them, and they came well-equipped - he said he'd bring their 'bits and pieces' which I thought would be half a bag of food and maybe a bowl and bottle... they came with huge hutch and run underneath, hay, food, everything... he could have just brought the pigs and sold the hutch for a decent amount, so I was glad that he obviously genuine and wanted the best for the pigs.

Aw, they are gorgeous! The owners could still have worked a way around the children and dog - if the guinea pigs had been kept indoors it might have been a bit more difficult but surely they coulda worked out something for garden time.

The dog was a Springer and it had 'sprung' right through the wire on the top of the run, used it like a trampoline.... rolleyes

The pigs usually came indoors for winter, obviously that wasn't going to be an option with the dogs and kids indoors too.

Funny boys, they've got one of those runs with a hutch that sits on top, with a ramp - they're fine with the ramp because they're used to it, but when I came home last night they had knocked the ramp down and were looking really confused! :))
